What is the theme song used in episodes #111-131 ?

The song is called “Siren’s Call” and it was composed and recorded by Zach Brown, aka Wildstrike.  You can find Wildstrike and more of his music here, and remember – we have permission to use our theme song.  You probably don’t.

When do you record?

Lately, Scott and Randy record the show on Thursday nights starting at ~8PM CT (6PM PT), but occasionally cannot proceed, and then record on Saturday at Noon Central Time. This is not guaranteed. We often make a prominent post in The Instance forum as soon as we have confirmed the time we’re next recording, even if it’s only an hour or two in advance.

How do I take part in the live video feed and chat room?

We often record the show live in front of a chatty audience through Ustream. The URL for the live show can be found here. An embedded version of the live feed will show up just prior to show time on the Instance blog, as well as the front page blog of Extralife.

I’m going to start my own podcast. How do you record yours?

This pretty much covers it.

Why is the volume of your podcast so low/high?

We assure you that Scott does the best he can to normalize the volume of all of his podcasts, and 99% of listeners have no complaint. It may be that your software is shifting the volume level drastically after you download the podcast. For example, in iTunes, the “Sound Check” function (Edit/Preferences/Playback) may be messing with your experience.

How do I submit something to The Instance?

Just record it, save as MP3 and attach to an e-mail to theinstance@gmail.com.

Why did you stop doing the class-focus episodes of The Instance?

Because you may marginally like us, but you seem to strongly dislike each other. We may try it again, if we ever come across a stable of different class experts who have a lot of experience in podcasting/radio.

How do I join your guild?

Create a horde character on Earthen Ring-US, get to level 10, then go here.

I don’t want to play Horde or on Earthen Ring-US. Can I join your guild as an Alliance character, or on another realm, or from a non-US client?

Nope.

We get this question a lot via e-mail:  Can I make an AIE guild on my realm (in Europe)?  The answer is – sure.  You can make anything you like.  But our guild has a strict no-sister-guilds policy.  What that means is that those of us who make up the foundation of the guild (essentially, the officers) have agreed that we will only be playing on Earthen Ring-US.  Just as you don’t want to (or can’t) play on our realm, we don’t want to (or can’t) play on yours.  We have the same reasons you do.

As we always say on The Instance, have fun and make having fun your goal.  Start a new guild and advertise that you’re a fan of The Instance.  Maybe that will get you somewhere.  But we respectfully ask that you don’t claim that we endorsed it, or might start characters there, or anything like that.  And you may as well name it something other than Alea Iacta Est, since it would be more fun to really make it your own!
