Big News Of The Week
Get Your Drink On!
Brewfest started today. In only it’s first appearance in-game last year, Brewfest was instantly one of the top two or three favorite events for players, and this year Blizzard has packed even more into the beer-appreciating, polka-music-themed drinkfest.
Rumors And Scuttlebutt
Get Your Ride On!
We started spotting the fabled motorcycle mount in the Beta this week. It’s a level 80 mount that can only be used in Outland or Northrend. Furthermore, the mount isn’t currently restricted to engineering use, but we think that may be a temporary measure to promote testing. Nonetheless, it looks like right now anyone at level 80 can pick one up.
Get Your Spirit Beast On!
Over at Mania’s Arcania – a must-read website for hunters, and let’s face it, we all play a hunter eventually – breaking news has been rolling in the last couple of days regarding the discovery of a whole new classification of tamable pets in the Beta: Spirit Beasts. We don’t know much at this point, but Mania has a killer screenshot of a snow leopard-like cat with glowing blue eyes.

Hey Scott and Randy, I was wondering if you guys know of any mod that gives me and in game media control for something like iTunes. It’s becoming annoying to tab out to change songs. I would love like a titan panel plugin that shows pause, skip, etc.

Great show guys, as usual.
One thing though, did I miss something? WoTLK dated for the 13th of November is not a big news of the week for WoW’s most popular podcast? I just though it was odd.
I’m surprised Scott didn’t bring this up, but to the guy that was asking about how to control iTunes within WoW…
If the guy is in Mac OSX (and since he said “Tab Out” I’m guessing he’s not), but for those who are, Blizzard has media controls for iTunes built right into the default UI!
It will display on screen the artist and song name when tracks change, and you can bind keys to play, pause, next and previous track. Just another thing that proves that Blizzard loves Mac users more.
That said… I’d suggest going out and getting a media keyboard that has keys on it for those functions. They still work within Warcraft, you just won’t get to see the track info.
Something you guys may like to know, the Mac verison of the wow client actualy comes with built in iTunes controls.
There are several achievements based on Brewfest, including drinking every beer from the Beer of the Month Club. If you like achievements, do your research (WoWInsider, etc) and get a jump on things.
Hey guys, first time listener, just got some of your podcasts from iTunes! I travel almost every week for work and your show kept me alive during a three hour drive today. But I just wanted to say, great show, tons of great info, I’ll def be listening from now on!
Just another note for Mac users on the i-Tunes question. If you look in the Key Bindings settings for WoW, you will find a section for i-Tunes controls. You can bind your keys to play/pause, next, previous, etc. I don’t these options are there for the non-Mac users though.
On the same topic that Austin K. asked about, and specially if he’s on a PC, i can point to a simple solution:
With Winamp (www.winamp.com – a free very customizable player) you can assign under preferences, “Global Hotkeys” for the different playback actions. Just make sure to use something like Alt+Shift+Z so you dont collide with your in-game keybinds (that one won’t press your Z, Alt+Z nor Shift+Z binds in-game).
The Dailies are converted into regular quests. I went and did some of the SSO quests in QD today. They gave about 9500 XP each and 3-4g instead of the normal 9-11 gold. They’re listed on Wowhead too:
example:
Lich King – Arm the Wards
http://wotlk.wowhead.com/?quest=11523

You will receive: 3g 97s

Upon completion of this quest you will gain:
