The Instance #116 - More Random Pornography Inside Elevators

Big News Of The Week

Blizzard Really Wants You To Multibox

Really. So much so, that they announced this week that the incentives for new multiboxers are about to go through the roof. It’s called “Refer-A-Friend”, but let’s face it, you’re your own best friend, aren’t you? What would it take to get you to open a 2nd account? How about an exclusive zebra mount? How about TRIPLE the xp gains? How about buy 2 get 1 free levels? We’ll even throw in a free 30-day credit for your original account!

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

Finally, An End To The Begging

We can only hope that Tigole was serious this week when he posted in a thread on the official forums that Blizzard had received it’s 1-Billionth request to make low-level quest-givers trackable, and intends to do just that in the next build of the Wrath beta. That’s right, only 4 years or so after the reputation system made that a highly requested item, Blizzard claims that they will take action.

Game On, Comrade!

Beginning yesterday, August 6th, Blizzard released the new Russian version of World of Warcraft and Burning Crusade, complete with a Russian-speaking support team. The game will be sold in DVD and CD versions and will include 1 month and 14 days of free play time respectively. There will also be a special Russian pricing plan starting at 399 rubles per a month for a 1-month subscription. In addition, current European account holders will have the option of playing on the new Russian servers after downloading the localization pack. There will also be free transfers to the Russian servers for a limited time, and the opportunity to convert a European account to a Russian account.

I play a level 70 Tauren Warrior. I am grossly anti-social in the game and have a young daughter that i look after all day both of these thing really limit my ability to raid and group. i have been a part of a couple of raiding guilds but i can’t really commit to times etc because of the above reasons. To cut a long story short i’ve been trying to get the full set of warrior PvP epics from Arena Season 2 through the battleground system is it possible to successfully solo as a DPS warrior with this gear?

Fenwar of the Guild writes:

I was wondering if Blizzard has ever considered creating a spirit mount. This mount would only be usable when you die and only to help you get back to your corpse. For those few times you wipe out and don’t have anybody to resurrect you it would be nice not to have to run all the way from the graveyard.

Warcraft Legends, Vol. 1

It’s the first of a four part graphic novel series from TokyoPop.  Here’s the Amazon page where you can order it for approximately $8.79. What these books will each be is a compilation of stories from such writers as Richard Knaak and Jae Hwan-Kim, who have turned out previous works for Blizzard. It’s 192 pages long, and it’s got a mean lookin’ orc on the cover!

The Instance #115 - En Español, But Not Really

Big News Of The Week

Blizzard Goes To Comic-Con

Blizzard joined their partners UpperDeck, DC Unlimited, Wildstorm and TokyoPop at the San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, where their relationship with each was highlighted, the future of each line was elaborated, and attendees asked questions about topics that had nothing to do with comics, figurines or the trading card game.

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

Questions and Answers From The Comic-Con Panel

There was a Blizzard dev present at the joint panel yesterday, and the audience wanted to know about the future of World Of Warcraft. Nothing surprising was forthcoming, but a couple of the exchanges caught our attention.

World Of Warcraft: En Español

Blizzard launched the Spanish language version of WoW in Mexico, Chile and Argentina this week, complete with launch events in Mexico that included developer signings, a leveling contest and giveaways. The new Latin American realms are played in Spanish, and here’s the new Spanish WoW official site, o nuestra página oficial.

Can’t Play The Beta? Watch Someone Else Do It

The site WOTLKwiki.info has been presumably the most popular site on the net among those looking for expansion information for the last couple of months, but they’re really out-doing themselves now. Here’s a link to their new TV page, where you can go choose from one of four channels of streaming video, if they’re currently online, and watch along as one of four fairly regular beta players experience the game.

I recently started a Dwarf Hunter, however it feels like an eternity of grind from level 9 to 10 in the Dwarf area seeing as I’m overpowered quite easily and I can only find one quest that’s pretty difficult in my area. I was wondering, is this normal for hunters before they get a pet and do you have any recommendations to help this process go quicker/less grind like?

I’ve got simple macro that will let you choose your mount randomly from a pool of, potentially, about 20 (if you carry that many in your bags). Link to full post here.

How To Change Your Startup Music

It’s an oldie, but a goodie. Friend of The Instance PT1994 posted a full explanation of the steps you need to take to make WoW play “Back In Black” when you start the game, rather than the usual start up music.

Blizzard Launches Achievements System for WoW

According to the WoW official site, “These self-contained goals will offer new challenges, satisfy goal-oriented players, allow others to see your accomplishments in World of Warcraft — and are just plain fun.” Here’s the link to Blizzard’s mini-site for the new Achievement system, and we run down a quick assessment for the system in the show.

I have one 19 rouge twink myself and enjoy playing him but when you’re playing a non twink character it seems to take some fun out of the BG when your constantly getting owned by twinks.

The Instance #113 - “There’s talent in them thar trees!”

Posted on July 12th, 2008 by The Instance Podcast

Big News Of The Week

Wowhead Says WOTLK Talent Trees Are Fair Game

This week, leading WoW database site Wowhead decided that enough time has passed since the Blizzard edict that unreleased content not be published by unofficial sources. It may have been quite recent, but there was a little get-together called the Worldwide Invitational since then, and Wowhead figured that with all the discussion of upcoming talent tree changes that took place at the WWI, the ban from Blizzard no longer has any teeth. So here you go.

Rumors And Scuttlebutt

Authenticators For Sale. Just Kidding. But Now They Are. Sold Out.

When the Blizzard keygen authenticator went on sale two weeks ago, unprecedented demand led to a fully-expected sell-out. In the original batch, authenticators were still available at the Blizzard store on the afternoon of July 1st, when Randydeluxe purchased two. Since the sold-out status of the devices took hold the next day, however, it’s been anybody’s guess as to what you can do to get one.

Northrend Flying Mount Rumors Made Official

Blizzard CM Bornakk entered a discussion this week on the WoW forums with a clarification of the current plan for your flying mount in the 2nd expansion content in WoW. And there’s the first detail - your current flying mount (or mounts) will be usable in Northrend. You’re just going to have to wait until level 77 to train skill level 425. And there’s also the matter of cost, but Blizzard hasn’t figured that out yet. Bornakk promises that it won’t be very high.

Someone Finally Listened To The Instance From Two Years Ago

It’s been that long since we began calling for a Murloc plush doll with sound, and finally, it’s coming from play.com. No, it doesn’t look very plush, and yes, at current exchange rates it’s going to run near $50.00, but that’s not the point.

Baldur from Scarlet Crusade writes:

I’ve been playing for quite a while now and only recently advanced a character’s Enchanting skill up to the near 300 range. The problem I’ve found is that when BC came out, Blizzard took many items that would have (pre-expansion) DE’d into Greater Eternal Essence and Illusion Dust and made them DE into the higher skill level Greater Planar Essence and Aracane Dust. Thus I’ve been having a hard time now (even though I’m now level 67) finding a good place (even if it means solo’ing pre-expansion instances) to get consistent drops that will DE into these to advance my skill.
