I have never been a big collector of things, but can tell you that when I saw this bit of news today, I was actually thinking how much I would love to have this. If I belonged to the uber-rich, I would definately shell out the green for this thing, but since I would have to work for more than 5 years to make the target price it does not look like I am a contender . Having had a bit of experience with movie props though, the actual parts and labor cost of the item is more like $150 (in a 1982 economy) That cultural sentiment mark-up is a killer ha ha…
Last time I heard this was out in the open it was at a convention. Guy had it, as well as other pieces, out on a table. No one believed it was the real deal. A prop maker, who knew all about it, saw it and couldn’t believe it was there. Wish I remember his name and if he had a site up, because he was planning creating a replica piece. Gah, I talk to these people, and can’t remember crap afterwords.
Blade Runner is my favorite film of all times, however, no matter how rich I was I would never allow myself to pay $150,000 for something like that. $150,000 could feed hundreds of children right here in the US for an entire year…
If only I was rich. That just might be about the coolest item for sale from a movie I’ve ever seen. That’s like having THE Maltese Falcon, in a way. Now, I wonder what a Void Comp prop would be priced at if a firing gun prop is $150K!
Nice! An austrian gun actually..I didnt know that. Though I´m not into guns at all. I´m actually workin in Steyr, where this fella was produced (well part of it). Funny fact.
I could buy Scott Johnson for that price.
@Scott – source?

That is a pretty sweet prop. Would love to have one.
That is definitely a prop I’d like to get my hands on.

Thanks for the heads up Scott!
I have a replica one already. Cost a lot less than $150K. http://www.treksinscifi.com/collection/thumbnails.php?album=182
