What exactly was in the bed of the truck? While the common crash tests we see do not include vehicles carrying loads, crash tests do include such tests.
Still, you would think that, even with the bed carrying a heavy load, there would be some method of saving the passengers from being sandwiched.
Just that every knows it ain’t a chinese manufactured car it’s a european car with the intention to crumple like this. http://youtube.com/watch?v=uykStESm3vw. Don’t believe everything the “internets” tell you.
Good call Johnny. VW Van all the way, and yeah, not the most realistic testing.
By the way… Buicks? They have a high percentage content that is Chinese. We’ll see more GM engines coming from China in the future. Anything imported has to have a US Crash rating. There are good cars and bad cars from all countries…
I don’t know much about vans, but I can say don’t buy chinese scooters. My dad bought me a ‘cheap’ chinese 50cc scooter, and it’s had so many things go wrong with it that it would have been cheaper buying from a reputable japanese brand. And the parts (or equivelent parts) are godawful to source.
It’s just over a year old and: The fuel guage is broken (was delivered broken). The battery overcharges ruining the battery. The fuel has some stupid flowback system that randomly causes starting issues. The rear indicator and breaklight covers fell off. The indicator system stopped working and needed replacing. and several other issues.
It’s a pity my father didn’t check for buyer feedback on the auction site he bought it from. The seller sold a carton of them and had an overwealming amount of negative feedback. Talking with servicemen in several motorbike shops has lead me to believe it’s not just the brand either, ‘chinese’ bikes are dodgy at best.
That’s a VW. ( http://tinyurl.com/3cuzbx ) I’ve seen those all around. And yes, it must’ve had a ton of anvils in the back to look like that at a 64km/h impact. (yes, KILOMETER!)
@Lazarus I’m not saying that chinese goods are good. I’m just saying that youtube title does not give an accurate description (in this case a lie) about the movie.
I’m agree with you that there are a lot of bad goods that are made in china. Lack of quality control is the problem I think and you get what you pay.
@ Tyler: Since the jerkface that deliberately edited the VW Type 3 crash test video (and lied about it being only 64kmh, and lied about it being Chinese, and lied about it being banned from Europe) is clearly Asian, I suppose we should forgive his grammer.
What I can’t forgive is the numerous outright lies, and deliberate libel committed against China (the government of which might deserve it, but that’s not important right now) and Volkswagen International.
“Sadly, this truck was barred from selling it in Europe”
That isn’t exactly proper grammer is it?
That isn’t exactly not bigoted
The other day I saw a VW Beetle converted into a truck, sadly for the Chinese, it was probably safer than this truck.
On the other hand good thing for the Germans
The load is still perfectly ok.
P.s. a google image search pulled up a lot of that kinda thing.

*everyone
I was gonna say. That had way too much weight in the back.
That’s not a chinese car. It’s VolksWagen!

But in reply to Scott’s headline…
Nope I don’t want that truck!

Chinese population control?
the precious cargo will be safe while the dispensible driver is smashed to a pancake

Geez! O_______O!
@Mercator
Name one bad Japanese car i dare you
It’s a Chinese truck, the crumple zones worked perfectly — the cargo is completely unharmed!
If the crash doesn’t kill you, the lead poisoning will.
you are right i don’t want this truck
sure, i dont check extralife for 2 days and all good jokes are taken

Sure, they can’t sell it in Europe, but what about the United States?
Gotta love how nobody reads the comments.
To reiterate what Johnny’s point was.
FALSE!
