I think I need to see the moving pictures, because this looks like “teens in space” or “90210 Spacelane” instead of “Star Trek”. Is Kirk even supposed to be a captain in this movie ? ’cause the crew really looks like a bunch of students fresh of the academy that accidentaly got aboard a real vessel.
I have a theory that they are students and thus the skivvies they’re wearing are to distinguish them as cadets. They certainly couldn’t be mistaken for serious military uniforms.

Yes – most of them are Starfleet Academy students in those pictures. The time frame is about 15 years before the original “Star Trek” series.
