[Zombies are] the subject of a new course, otherwise known as English 333, at the University of Baltimore.
Students will watch 16 classic zombie films…read zombie comics and, as an alternative to a final research paper, have the chance to write scripts or draw storyboards for their ideal zombie flicks.
If I wasn’t graduating this semester, you know I would be petitioning to bring this to my campus. A zombie based class as an elective for my English major? Can’t imagine.
While it does seem to have it’s fair share of work, the way the professor describes the class makes it seem as if it would be everything a zombie fan could ask for in a college course. Hopefully the class is as productive, in relation to other course work, as it is fun so that a trend may grow.

Braaaaaaiiiiiins…….
Hah! That is awesome – I’m actually an alum of UMBC. If I remember correctly this was the same professor that while I was a student taught a “Graphic Novels as Literature” course.
Never had him, but from what I remember he was actually a pretty good teacher on top of being willing to step out there and teach some bizarre classes like this.
Why not? I saw this a few years ago and had to print it for a few friends near Halloween:
Mathematical Modelling of an Outbreak of Zombie Infection
If only the professors I had were that interesting. At least there was one who talked about semiconductor crystal growth, and segued into leaving beer in the freezer, forgetting it, and being hung over the next day and drinking it anyway.
Northern Arizona University (the one I’m enrolled in) has/had a “Vampires and Zombies in Literature” class, for Honors students. It’s a 300 or 400 level class, though.
At Simpson College in Iowa we play Humans vs Zombies once a semester, and we offered a Zombies class for our last May Term. I didn’t take it, but a friend did, and they wrote a book about the zombie apocalypse on campus. You can actually purchase the book on Amazon.

I really dislike these prank zombie warnings.
They do nothing but lower our preparedness for a real zombie invasion.
