Kind of a weird night. Any Utah readers will know what I’m talking about. My wife was downtown today, and on her way back, got hit with the brunt of a huge winter storm, punctuated by some evil wind sheer. The result was a 4 hour commute for her, that normally takes 20 minutes or less. She ended up getting stranded and took shelter with others at a local grocery store, normally only 5 or 6 minutes from our house. Instead, ALL roads in and out were closed…with over 40 cars piled up on the main road. The little town I live in was essentially made an island of frozen white. No power problems, and oddly I have awesome internet tonight, but we ain’t going nowhere.
Spent all afternoon and night (still not done) helping neighbors find each other, helping people know where each other is, etc. My cell phone is getting a serious workout. I could go on…
It’s 11:10pm, and where is Kim now? She’s sleeping at her sisters house in a nearby area, just to the east, where the road was not closed, and I’m doing the full mister mom thing tonight and tomorrow. Not even sure if the kids schools will be open yet or not. Pretty hideous.
Been a really thick winter this year. Snowboarders celebrate! I guess… Did I mention that my two youngest kids were sent home from School today at 11am because their was a gas leak detected? ugh…what a day.
