If you were here, sitting next to me right this instant, you would hear an audible sigh as I read news about Total Recall getting a remake. Not because it is a stupid story, it’s one of my more liked Philip K. Dick stories, but because the movie has already been made into a fun action movie that has Arnold dressing in drag and having his eyes almost sucked out of his head on the the terraformed Mars.

Read up on this.

I just watched Arnold’s Total Recall last year and it is a movie that, for me, still stands the test of time. I could see it being remade from a slightly more serious/subtle/less violent angle though – not to say I approve.

    That should say REwatched.

with that red dot there it almost looks like its his rear end and his torso is spun around like that brat’s head in the exorcist

He was totally on steroids when that photo was taken… I bet the red circle didn’t need to be quite that big ;)

Proof that film studios are out of ideas, or too interested in profit, and probably think we’re too stupid to notice.

Mercator: I’ll go with number 3.

we have perfect digital copies of Total Recall in our video cabinets.
How can they possibly improve on this movie?
    The graphics? no, they’re fine.
The Governator? no, you can’t improve on that.
    The story? it rocks
The three boobs? is this what we are waiting for, realistic looking boobs?

There had better be a chick with 3 boobies

It seems too soon to me—the original wasn’t that long ago (or at least looks like it.) Maybe if they did it like the recent four-hour version of Dune that followed the novel better? Then again, realistically depicting exposure to the martian atmosphere or space is rather boring compared to the Roger Rabbit Eyes. I just can’t see anything topping the original here.

There may be something better in store here: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/news/1648596/andquotbatman_beginsandquot_writer_tackling_a_andquotscannersandquot_remake …after the sucky sequels, Scanners could use a reboot!

@mercator: No. They know we notice, but they also know that our choices for film entertainment is largely limited to what they give us. There’s no incentive for them to do anything special any more. Sure. We could go indie, but how many of us even know where the closest indie theater is? How far is the closest indie theater? How much $$$ do they have to put down for good indie movies? (The closest indie theater for us is just down the road, but the $$$ they get is next to nothing. The next closest that gets a good share of $$$ for movies is 2 hours away and in a rotten part of the #2 most dangerous city in the USA.)
