I think they did invent the bullet time effect, if not that, then the effect where the motion stops or slows and you pan around the action.

Yep the Matrix used bulletime. It was the first to use the freezetime technique effectively and they practically invented bullettime

Sorry – while Star Wars was incredible for 1977, nothing about 2001: A Space Odyssey? (sp) – 1968 and smoother effects. . .and NOT in the top 10????

I can’t tell from that little pic if its from the special edition, but the point is they used computers to control camera movements so they could do much more complex blue screen shots than was previously possible.
