Just had to run a repeat today, mostly due to the fact that this comic from christmas of last year is still 100% relevant today. It still blows my mind how in demand that console is a year after launch, and how hard it still is to get your hands on one. I have people in my neighborhood sleeping outside of our local Target and Best Buy this weekend again. It’s crazy. Anyway, enjoy today’s ExtraLife oldy.

hey Scott! How about running the santa for the horde comic as a classic at some point too? That is still my favourite one!
which one? Cant remember.

My all time favourite! makes me smile every time.
What is a Wii? =)
The stores are oozing here with Wiis. Nobody is buying the things (or any other console for that matter)
(Eastern Europe btw)
@ Me
Well send some over here! That way my neighbors wont keep eying up my Wii whenever they come over. I swear they think up reasons to come over to case the joint.
This comic might be even MORE relevant this year. It’s nuts! At our local WalMart people line up every morning in the back of the store (at what used to be lay-away, and is now Site-to-Store pickup) waiting for the possible arrival of Wii’s on the morning truck. I think the store must have realized that it was more efficient to sell them from the docking bay, then try to get them into the electronics department. I imagine they were being snatched off the trolley en route! Anyway, 14 Wii’s arrived yesterday around 10:30 AM, and were all gone by 11:30.
Man, I’m glad I got one last April!
I remember the first time I saw this comic I was craking up! I just did again!! I got my Wii a few days after launch and have loved it since! I think it was funny how quickly the mob in line changes from friendly, to get out of my way or I will trample you! When I was in line, all the geeks and I were talking and playing our DS’s. When the store manager came out, they turned into savage little turds, doing anything to get in front of line! Luckly they were all 13-17 year old’s and I’m a big 23 year old dude, so all I had to do was stomp my foot and they would cower behind me HAAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!
My wife wants one so bad and was looking everywhere but we decided that with all the excess on ebay after the Holidays they will come down to a reasonable price or at least there may be a few in stores…
I think most of the Wiis get buyed by some guy who sells them at ebay.
In Europe you can buy a Wii at most places…
at least where I live
The Toys R’ Us in Times Square had about 200 of em yesterday. One of the sales clerks said they got a huge shipment. Of course you also have the Nintendo World store not too far away from them either. I guess everyone thinks I’m crazy for not wanting one.
14?? You said 14??? When did Nintendo change the packaging. Wii’s come in Boxes of 3, and 14 is not divisible by 3…. So where did the extra Wii go?
I have 2 Wiis, received one as a gift
thats soooooo great!!!
In Switzerland you can find the Wii in high numbers in a huge variety of shops (even grocery stores). There was never any shortage of Wiis. Having travelled around Europe I can confirm there is no shortage in other countries as well. I suspect the lack of Wiis in the USA is part of their marketing.
If there is shortage of consoles it’s with the PS3 – the 60 GB version is nearly sold-out now. But that could be a marketing trick of Sony…
Cheers from the land of cheese
The Wii is the only console I told my brother to get for his kids. If anything, it’s the better choice for kids than the other two consoles with their controllers. They heard news about some kid losing some of his motor function skills in his hands, due to playing with those thumb-based controller pads. I really hope they can find one to buy for my neices and nephews. I’m going to be upset if they didn’t.
I’m really disappointed that retailers are jacking up the prices of the Wii to put bundles of games with them. Profit is already being made, but apparently some Exec’s feel they need to squeeze more out of this high-demand item.
Looks like other europeans confirm what I said. Strange that nintendo would be doing this
Really, it’s amazing how bad I still want a Wii.
Yes!
My perhaps my most favourite cartoon ever….
So that guy wants Santa to pee on him?
Honestly, I like Nintendo, but’s its kind of pathetic that a YEAR after a console launch you still can’t readily find them.
I really don’t mean this as an offense, but that was your best comic piece so far, Scott. Well nailed
