If there is one kind of nerd that no girl likes, it has to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan. Just my two cents.

Nicely done, Scott.
Good one Scott
Scott, I thought the turtles in the states were actually called Teenage Mutant HERO Turtles, because of some problem with the Ninja word. Like, don´t know, but maybe it was ofending the japanese community?
I just remembered once I saw this website (or was it on tv?) about the two names.
I know for sure I had the old cartoon and the movie on VHS, and it had one of the names, and another merch I had got (back in the 80´s) had the other name. Not sure which is which.
Anyway, just dropping MY 2 cents.
nope…never heard of that in my life.
Turtles were called *Hero* Turtles in Germany. I don’t know if that was true for other countries, too.
Did you mess up there Scott using Donatellos mask and Leonardo swords?? I feel ashamed that I noticed that
They renamed Ninja to Hero in some places because ‘Ninja’ is supposed to sound more violent than Hero.
Side note: Am I the only one who thinks that in the original TMNT theme song, this lyric is quite humorous?
“Leonardo leads; Donatello does machines.”
Discuss.
I wonder why mutant turtles needed masks in the first place
They were called Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles in the UK to. Actually the wikipedia article on it is fairly funny.
“…since local censorship policies deemed the word ninja to have excessively violent connotations for a children’s program. Consequently, everything related to the Turtles had to be renamed before being released in the UK. The lyrics were also changed, such as changing “Splinter taught them to be ninja teens” to “Splinter taught them to be fighting teens.”
Cause you know, fighting teens are ok. But ninja teens? Woah, too dangerous.
No clue what they were called here, always heard it as “Teenage Mutant Hero Ninja Turtles”…funny ^^
Nice!!!
That’s so funny. Definitely always been just Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in America.
Oh, and Dobsky makes a very good point. Shame on you Scott!
My wife hates the TMNT. I have all four turtles in micro size sitting on the monitor, just waiting for a chance to ninja kick the rabbit.
To poke a hole in your theory, my husband is a big TMNT fan, and I like him just fine. ^_^ I’m a fan – and a geek – too, so that probably helps.
I’m with Windy on the girl geek front. Actually, I’ve got a lot of nostalgia for the Ninja Turtles because I used to watch them every day when I was little.
I used to love TMNT when I was little. So a guy being a fan doesn’t bother me.
A guy being a fan of DBZ on the other hand … ugh.
