My son and I laughed all the way through this list!
Well THAT puts it into perspective.
Don’t forget to mention the newly-hammered nail into Sony’s coffin – as unbelievable as this sounds, apparently they’re working on a new, $1200 version of the PS3 which will serve as a $600 PS3, except with all sorts of media player capabilities. For those of you about to flame me, would you have believed me if I told you that they would be selling the PS3 for $600 before E3 2006?
LOL, the comments on the Gamespot forums:
2007 is gona be the upside,
-major firmware update
-less of a shortage reaching almost 2 – 6 mill mark
-Euro Launch
- Amazing games
-Better graphics and understand of making games
Amazing how dedicated Sony fanboys are…
I just love how whenever something sucks ass, they always say it will soon be fixed with a firmware update.
Meh,
The current state of the PS3 does not neccesarilly reflect the state of the PS3 later.
Remember, the PS2 had an equal bad start.
Not nearly as bad as this time round, this is the worst console launch in history!
This guy must be one of those anti-Sony fanboys, yet I have to agree about the statements regarding arrogance. This is the same company that put viruses on disks, made explosive batteries, hindered rumble packs with lawsuits and expects us to buy its proprietary stuff all the time; some of which is still untested like the Cell thing… not the company some of s used to love
Forgot to say… Yet this is a company that can come back on top or come close trying! Remember that even if PS3 may not be the most fun, most worth buying or (some developers argue) powerful console, the brand loyalty is a strong thing to beat.
That made my wife and I very, very happy. Wii360 FTW!
wii360 FTW
*eh* Sony’s rootkit didn’t place a virus on your pc. It merely made it extremely easy for viruses and trojans to hide on your pc. Not that it matters that much since your systems’ security is severely compromised in the name of ‘protecting’ the interests of Sony. The worst thing of that drama was Sony’s response once the flaws were discovered.
The only thing that may save them is how blind and loyal most Sony-console-owners appear to be. That’s not to say that neither Nintendo nor Microsoft don’t have their share of loyalists, but damn those Sony-boys are loyal/blind.
Sony … down, but still not out. Especially with the Wii-shortages over here in Europe the PS3-release is going to be very interesting.
So far the only things which need fixing in a firmware update is a small error in the rendering code for some PS2 titles and an option to allow a few different bluray scaling settings. Everything else is about right tho they’re releasing the new XMB soon and the new media functions later after the worldwide launch.
*bah* it’s the same with the 360 … you need to rely on ff-ing firmware-’upgrades’ (also known as bugfixes in the real world) to get the functionality that should have been in there in the first place.
I really hope Sony makes the European release a complete disaster so they can bury the console and the company forever.
DS360 FTW in my house. We now have 3 DS Lites in my house (one of each color) and a PSP (I tried to tell both sides of the story, but the man would not be swayed
. I haven’t even tried the PSP yet, but multiplayer DS with one cartridge is just too much fun! XD
The fact that Square-Enix and other once Playstation specific companies are heading over to the 360 as well has me very happy. Unfortuantely Resistance: Fall of Man is produced by Sony so I’ll probably never get to play it.
At least there’s Gears of War and Prey though.
Actually Square-Enix i believe is slowly moving back home to nintendo, give the DS FF3 redo and the another Crystal Chronicals
I think sony made an oppsy or two. You do know if you PSP has MP3s on it when you hook it to the net it’ll try to determin if they are legal or not? I know this cause my PSPs booklet told me so i take out the MP3 memory card and swap it for the game save one. Why did noone mention the fact sony got made thier persious PSP was hacked and force you to update it to play a game you just bought?
Sony just thought everyone was a Sony loyalist and would bend over happly. Don;t get me wrong the PS3 is impressive but for 600? NO THANKS. And it’s not gunna ever replace my PC espically since it’s so easy to customize it. When the price drops a few times i’ll buy one if the game base is still there but it
’s looking like that ain’t happening.
Wayne from the States.
Actually Resistance is not DEVELOPED by Sony, it is only PUBLISHED by Sony. This means that if the DEVELOPERS wish they can find a different publisher like MS or SEGA so that they can port their title to 360 and/or PC. It depends on what agreement they have with Sony really; Sony may have ased for exclusive rights to be the publisher which may eclude the ports for some years. However, considering the lack of popularity of FPS in Japan I seriously doubt Japanese public and Sony are considering R:FOM to be the real jewel in PS3’s crown.
I love how sony got sued for their controller and now are trying to get into position to do the same thing against Nintendo after so obviously copying the wireless 360 degree controls.
Sony’s big “Shortage” this time around isn’t so big as no one wants the damn thing. Besides having the 360 come out so early gave it the HUGE boost because there’s games for it. And not just crappy first series games but actually big name games. You can’t mention a 360 without gears of war.
I can’t think of a game for the ps3 I want. And o0o0o you get that really crappy movie with it in blue ray. BAH.
The Wii is underpriced for the generation market and by ALL account it’s actually a NEW experience and most importantly it’s FUN.\
In conclusion. Wii’s on top for the generation jump and the Xbox 360 is where the games are at right now. PS3… With the rush on the build and all the law suits and problems… how crappy was the thing put together? I think the only thing that would get me to buy a ps3 is if it has an adapter so I can plug it into my car without rewiring too much.
I believe I’ve already said all that needs to be said about Sony, but for the sake of being thorough…well I can’t pass up a chance to knock on Sony (I’m just waiting for MS to screw just as bad).
“Bend over and take it up the tail-pipe.” is NOT a good company moto. Yet…this is the standard course for all things Sony these days. Everything, from their games and music to their hardware and computers has this mentality towards the consumer built in. Their CDs have rootkits designed solely for the purpose of what? Spying on the consumer’s possibly suspect use of the product THEY BOUGHT. PSP? Nevermind the fact that the games for it are largely laughable, the fact that the thing pees in your face (not literally mind you but the phrase stands more or less) whenever you try to get updates for problems in the design. Sony has long been “gouging” consumers with their electronic devices with price tags far above the competition…just for the brand name (when in reality, the components are bought at the same price and assembled at the same places).
The day Sony is buried and forgotten cannot come soon enough because all of the above…is the kind of thing LEGITIMATE consumers can do with far less of.
The rootkit business was bad enough that my employer now has a “no Sony products, period” policy in place. That means anything with the Sony brand on it is banned from consideration when we are purchasing.
The PS3 debalce is just icing on the cake. Hey, they’re losing about $300-$400 per console sold – let’s hope they try to make it up in volume, liek Amiga did!
Overheard in Gamestop.
Clerk(on Phone)-”No i don’t know when those will be in. probaly not until mid january”
Customer at counter- “Was that about the ps3?’
Clerk”No the Wii. We actually have a stack of ps3’s in the back”
Customer- ” yeah you probaly have the one i trade in too”
Yeah things are looking good for you sony.
Mark.
Thank goodness there’s hope. Even if it take a few years I’ll gladly wait for it. As for it not being any kind of jewel for Sony I never thought it would. FFXIII will be the main title for the PS3 as well as MGS. R:FoM just looks like it would be a fun, challenging, and visually pleasing game.
However much I dislike what Sony has become I really don’t want them to completely fail, just not have the “We’re the undisputed technological gods. Anything anyone else does is worthless and will never succeed.” type of mentality they have. I’m sure they could do some pretty good things again after they get a nice wake up call. If they don’t change their current mindset they company will fail.
Sony is ebil
Microsoft is more ebil
WIIIIIIiiiiiiii
Ebil is what ebil does…yeah kind of corney. Yeah i think it’d be a bad blow for the Game industry if sony completely fails cause if they do could you imagine an HP game station XD. I use to like sony but now they wen;t completely insane. I really would like to see Nintendo back on top.
yeah my point exactly Stuart, my feelings exactly too!
Wow… I hope Sony made themselves look ueber bad last year so they can look extremely awsome this year
