You know… at 8, I wouldn’t be surprised if the parents got some music on that kid. cause if the kind had been playing something to get his motor skills up, then something that ends up being repetative is possible. being that I havn’t played the game, but I do play music, this seems kind of like a joke with only 5 “frets” so to speak, but his left hand has the makings of some guitar lesson’s, or jus the know how, kudos though, that solo looks like some crazy 4321 work.
Is it bad that I naturally started doing the fingerings as best as I could? But then, back in the day I’d ask to “shadow” someone playing DDR one-player. Now I’m doing Double Mode for fun.
Still, that kid p@wn$ me; I’m stuck on “Mother” on Hard.
It is always funny to me how people cry fake when they see stuff like this *point finger to CaptainMax*. Why is it always so hard to believe that someone might be just good at something? I will give this kid the benefit of the doubt that why cause i will admit I have no chance on getting to his level on guitar hero.
There’s another video of this kid playing Psychobilly Freakout on expert, and people cried fake all over. Can’t remember if it was linked from this site or elsewhere…
I also saw a video of this kid playing “Tripping on a Hole…” on expert so I went home and tried it. I got 11% into the song and failed. On a side note, I have the PS2 version of the game and I do not recognize the song. Which one is it?
Aside from TJ, how many other guitar players are there here? Do you think knowing real chords and scales makes it harder or easier to play GH? I’m going with harder, especially with songs I know on guitar. My motor memory is going for the actual chord, which doesn’t have much to do with fretting mechanics in the game.
I’ll cry fake with no fear. Watch the kid’s left hand on the color buttons. There are several spots where green comes up and his finger is no where near hitting the green button. The kid is just mashing buttons.
And for those that say he should take up a real guitar….. you know this is about as close to playing an actual guitar as Gotham is to real F1 racing right?
That is insane, I agree with Scott, it will be very good for the kid as it will help him to develop a great sense of patterns and visio-spatial awareness. The next step for him would be to learn it off by heart totally blindfolded.
My game was Lengend of Zelda. I would beat it in one sitting (on one man, with hearts) one night, and then the next night I would do the same for 2nd quest. Never found a game to capture me like that again.
What makes me laugh is how everyone cries fake… To my knowledge the burden of proof lies with the state. What is going to happen this kid is going to end up on Oprah or Today Show rip titts on some crazy ass song I would like to see Skynard to be honest cause watching my roommate do that on medium looked butt difficult. Then when he pulls it off everyone will do that common nerd cop out. Well I just needed to see it live cause until it was done live i could not believe it.
Heh, I play on expert but that kids awesome. Since I own the PS2 version I havn’t played that song but I doubt I would get much higher than 80% on that one.
I don’t understand why everyone says it’s fake. It isn’t. He hits every note with the frets spot on. So whoever said he was just mashing buttons was just dead wrong.
I think some people are just afraid that the younger generation is getting better at our precious videogames than we are.
You’re in denial people!
I hate all DDR games. I won’t even attempt guitar hero. I have a few friends that can’t get enough of it. I used to do the Keyboard ddr but realized there’s something else I need to do. Everything that’s not ddr .
Good on the kid for playing a game. Now if the kids would put that much effort into anything else we’d be going places.
To me all this stuff is amazing and yet not. In the end most of the time it’s playing it so much that does it, a long long time ago I played counter strike only using the super shotgun for a month, by the end of the month I was pretty damn good with the gun.
So I’m hard pressed to celebrate it as pure talent, cause he seems to have played it so much to know the entire song by memory. Not to short change the kid, or be jealous pointy finger guy, I could never get into guitar hero to play it enough to be good at it beyond easy setting.
I used to play DDR on an actual mat but that was a few years ago didn’t really become good in it. Now I’m trying to master DJMAX 7 button on keyboard. Look up any video of people playing DJMAX on SC mode. GH is a breeze compared to DJMAX.
…………………
holy poop. that game is hard as crap for me on medium, and i play guitar.
Alright…so just doing this right is hard. Then he’s not looking….AND he’s singing along….. amazing
O_O
I am officially OLD. The part that kills me is when he looks away and keeps hitting it in stride…
and of course at the end when he knows he missed 3 notes before it even tells him.
this kid didnt even look at the freakin screen a couple times
8 year olds have insane memory development at that age. its actually good for him.
Expert makes me cry.
He only missed three notes – I’m lucky if I can hit that many on Expert.
I’m going back to my cave and /cry
Not all that hard, up until the solo part…
Now that is friggin’ hard….
I think this kid was featured on GameTrailers website just for his skills in Guitar Hero. Kudos to him.

I bet that the controller isnt hooked up and someone is behind the camera using the real controller.
damn that kid is AWESOME!
i’m lucky if i can get 70% on medium
That kid needs to start playing a real guitar! I trade his XBox360 for the guitar i have collecting dust!
What a nice guy I am! XD
People with new gen console are so blimmin’ rich!
DX
Lucky talented kid.
sjees. … I have problems playing this thing on ‘easy’ (just got everything 5 star) and I’m just beginning with ‘medium’.
One thing I did notice is that he moved his left hand.
I guess that is the trick to playing above ‘medium’ at that speed.
Is it bad that I naturally started doing the fingerings as best as I could? But then, back in the day I’d ask to “shadow” someone playing DDR one-player. Now I’m doing Double Mode for fun.

zomg… this kid is amazing! :O
No words….no FREAKIN words, man!
Why is he wasting his talent on Guitar Heroe this kid should be playing CS thats were the money is
thats insane and makes me want to cry……………

Thats okay, i can still beat him up.

two explanations: it´s a fake or… the boy hasn´t a social life (he knows the song by memory and, with that level, that requires a lot of training.

wow, that just made my morning. rock on with your bad self!
My game was Lengend of Zelda. I would beat it in one sitting (on one man, with hearts) one night, and then the next night I would do the same for 2nd quest. Never found a game to capture me like that again.
Play on, young (game-) rocker, play on!
…or possibly Legend of Zelda… yeah, one or the other…

DEAR GOD! That kid needs a hobby.

Whats the point of playing a keyboard version of DDR? Takes the whole point away.

Strangely, that makes me want the game really badly… [shrug]

*gasp*
Holy Jeebus!!
Umm… I want to get that game so bad! But after seeing that… I think I would feel waaaay too inadequate!
