One semester I worked int he computer labs. Frankly, it makes me scared that this is our future.One very....memorable....incident happened when a mouse was malfunctioning that was hooked up to our printer computer (Each student at the college is assigned a password to sue the printer and it's charged out of their account so that people dont just let the printer run).Anyway, they needed the mouse to select and release the print jobs. It broke. Luckily, a keyboard was also attached to the computer, and as any experienced person who knows how to work computers knows that almost all (if not all) things that can be done with a mouse can be done with a keyboard (it just takes longner).So, I wrte up and instruction sheet, a step by step thing telling everyone how to log in, how to switch fields between Login and Password, how to select things, and how to log out in the end. I placed this on the mousepad and put the mouse behind the computer so people wouldnt try to use it.First person came up. Didnt look att he sheet, grabbed the mouse from behind the computer, and tried to use it. She then turned to me and said "Its broken". I pointed her to the instuction sheet.Second person came up. Same deal.Third person. Again, their stupidity amazed me.At this point I took a large highlighter I happened to have with me and wrote "PLEASE READ" on the sheet of paper.Next few people did fine.Then, a girl cameup, looked dumbly at the computer, at the keyboard, at the instuctions, looked around, LIFTED the paper and looked UNDER it and in a curious voice turned to me and asked me: "Where is the mouse?"At this point I just sighed, pointed to the paper to tel my boss I was leaving early. Before I left, I made a copy of the sheet, gave it to him and said "If anyone complains about the mouse today, they were too stupid to read this" and left for home.I dont work there anymore.P.S. After further examination she asked to see the game.... THE kid had broken off the plastic casing around the PSP game; He thought it was protective ware and needed to be opened.
