His guild is gonna give him so much hell. But hey, at least his retarded girlfriend is hot.

    WOW that was gay-tarded….

  2. Shiv

wow, how to completley misinterperet everything. Because I need help really does translate into “lfm 25 naxx” for everyone on warcraft who needs help.

    GJ new(b)s

  3. Vulcan4770

LOL, thats so true….and so sad

  4. HBD

It’s “naxx” not “nex”, it’s “pwnzor” not “ponzor”, and there’s a ranking system in WoW that shows he’s in the “top 10 out of 12 million”? I did not know that.

    That girl needs to lrn2breporter.

  5. Mujako

good things i dont play WoW… otherwise my wife would have left me already.

  6. franko

could have been much, MUCH worse.

  7. Tsukasa

I love how they say hes one of the “top 10 out of 12 million”, and they you look at his armory and I more geared then him…. THAT MUST MEAN I”M NUMBER ONE WOO!

  8. Bearbutt

My gawd this is the kind of BS crap publicity that makes us all look like fricken morons. I now hate NBC.

  9. Whammie

I saw this video this morning and all I could do was shake my head and wonder when the world is going to stop trying to understand WoW and just let it be what it is. Main stream media needs to just leave us alone! Idiots like this guy make us all look like idiots.

  10. Rif_Luna

I think he lied to her about being in the top 10….. just sayn, he is laughing way to much in that interview, he can’t hardly keep his lips from curling! I am so glad there are people out there in the world that will go to work for us, (gamers), sit in traffic, and be in crappy meetings all day, just so we can get our game on and pwn sum noobs. oh, and TIMMAY!

  11. drelkins

Watching that was like getting tazered in the bits.

  12. Interesting

I might just be weird like this… but all this clip does is make me want to go out and get to 80… Still level 74 and its taking FOREVER. Not to mention I am broke. Anyway all I have to say is we really don’t talk like that in the internet world… at least on the whisperwind server.

  13. andrew.f

Aren’t rankings for jocks pretending to be gamers? How much more off can US media be about pretty much everything?

  14. Jon

Wow, that was, disturbing, especially since I play WoW and I don’t talk like that.

  15. Plater

I had to watch this with no sound at work, so maybe something was lost…
How is that dude suddenly a pimp and drinking wine with the reporter chick?

  16. Scott

Best part is the lady at the end who gets the word “what?” out before the video ends.

  17. Bearbutt

Now a REAL piece of video needs to be made to counteract this completely moronic pile of poo that somehow passed for journalism.

  18. Thedrawrf

Seriously? Was this really on the boob-tube? And “top 10 out of 12 million”? That’s such a load.

  19. Joonas

    QQ

  20. Novan Leon

Now there’s a shining example of journalistic achievement. Mainstream Media FTW!

  21. Patrick Beja

Guys, you’re not seeing this right!

Ok, they are failing miserably at being funny (at least to people who play the game) but they are not even trying to be taken seriously…
This is a dramatic shift in the perception of gamers: he’s hot, his girl is hot, and he’s obviously being silly about this. Just two years ago the report would have been “secretive teen alienated from family by satanic video game lingo”…

I’m telling you, this might not be funny, but we (the gamers) are the heroes of the video nonetheless. Good thing, I tell ya!

  22. Bearbutt

The target audience of this broadcast is everybody, not gamers specifically. Perhaps if this were on G4, where the context is within the gaming community, I could see this as being a joke… but this is NBC news. People are going to take what is said there as literal fact.
    .
That’s not the image gamers need perpetuated. We’re not idiots like that. We’re normal people. This is damaging.

  23. Zeke

Apparently I’m not 1337 enough of a gamer because I don’t talk like that guy all the time. They could have tried to use some more common lingo (WTF is a “Timmy”?), but I can sort of understand what they’re getting at. Gamers do have their own language, but this is a terrible interpretation of it. Then again, he is Alliance, and maybe that’s just how they talk. >.>

When she asked for help she did do something right at least, she used Capslock and put it in Trade channel. The anchor saying “What?” at the end was my reaction to the story as well.

  24. goodmatt

    #plater very funny

  25. Patrick Beja

    @Bearbutt
    > We’re not idiots like that. We’re normal people.

    Errr… Really? :)

  26. Kevin

Well… at least he’s banging a hot chick.

  27. TheChao

Is there an inside joke im missing?

  28. The_Bruce

Wowsers, those folks are er… ‘Timmys’.
I had thought, on watching, that this kind of uber-secret-1337 speak was an American thing… reading the other comments though, I think not!
In the UK I’ve never encountered half as much slang as this TV spot had on it in my entire time playing!
    I did ‘/kek’ though.

  29. idogis1

Some people just shouldn’t talk. This video shows all two of them.

  30. idogis1

    flappity flap flap flap…

    It’s a good thing.

  31. WarlockJA

A totally poor representation of they way gamers talk. And “nex” could be nexus, but I never knew you could 25 man it. Never heard people running around saying so and so is just a “timmy” or anything like that. Besides, why would he use such “lingo” in explaining his day in WOW to someone who apparently doesn’t play?

At least he knows QQ. Noob! Or like the olden days Newbie!

  32. vorpalbunnie

This girl is totally being taken for a ride. His smirk says it all… “Hey baby, you know I’m in the top 10 of *all* of the World of the World of Warcraft. I can’t work, honey. I’m *too* good not to play this game. Like I’ve been sayin’, so I’ll be sponzored, baby, then all our dreams can come true…”

  33. mercator

    @vorpalbunnie –

I was thinking that too. Okay, she is a reporter in the bay area. Okay job, not raking in the cash… Apartment is small, but otherwise normal. They sit down to wine (yeah I bet) and while she is at work he plays WoW all day?

Crazy waste of 3 minutes time.

  34. mercator

Reminds me of the movie Hackers, when they are talking about how great Jolie’s character’s laptop is in attempted hacker speak.

Wow that has a fourteen point four bee pee em modem! Killer refresh rates!

  35. ray

everyone who believes that he’s serious just got punk’d

  36. Atomic

What’s more pathetic than this guy? Someone who plays WoW and thinks they are not this guy.

  37. Bully

He probebly doesn’t even play wow.

  38. supersamurai

    @mercator

    i laughed so incredibly hard

    HACK THE PLANET!

  39. Sarah

lol that made me giggle but then again I don’t play MMOs but i doubt that its that bad.

  40. NeuroMan42

Ok… we need to put a black bag on his head, drive him into the inky darkness of a forest… then burn him.

  41. Ribonucleic

Looks like they got some heavy duty reporting going on there…

  42. Cantonkid

If they actually talk like that at the dinner table, they both have issues. Him for doing it…her for putting up with it.

My girlfriend would never let that fly at our dinners. ;)

  43. Anonymous coward
  44. Decker

I want to curl up in a ball and kyoo kyoo after watching this.

Anyone else feeling like this guy is just an Actor (not an actual WoWer)?

  45. bart7374

lfm 25 man nax to understand this. is this rly srious? that guy is such a timmay. i think he is an actor. and i could ponzor that guys ass with my lvl 45 shithole character cus he suxxorz.

Seriously though folks, on NBC? Are they trying to make us all look like idiots?

  46. Bomber X

I play MMOG for 8 years and this kind of retards is not the standard gamer nor their TV scoop shaped fantasy language, well this guy effectively need help but not for a raid, he need a psy to learn some basics like making a difference between talking online to gamers who play the same game and talking IRL to someone who don’t.

  47. Blackwood

Wow is lame – but his girlfriend is really hot!

  48. digisam

at least it is not a lonely fat guy with empty bottles of sugary drinks and pizza boxes around him in a darkened room with a Lara Croft poster above his bed

i think it is just a bit of fun, nothing to get your knickers in a twist about. it wasn’t a documentary, just letting people know that gamers have essentially created their own words and sayings for certain things

remember there are loads of people out there who really know nothing about computers or tech

i still have friends my age (30) that will not use their credit cards online or even think about internet banking, yet to me it is second nature

  49. lardboy

This video is so cringe inducing I’m not going to lower myself to add further comments beyond what’s already been said but I can’t resist the following -

@WarlockJA – You’ve made a common mistake there noobs and newbies are different things. We all start out as newbies but a noob is someone who has been “playing” long enough that they should should know better but still behave like a newbie.

  50. vóltage

    oh my freaking god…
