Thanks to Chris for sending us the link. Very cool stuff. I am pretty pumped to see what Peter Jackson has in store for us as a followup to his seminal LotR’s trilogy.

It looks very interesting. It’s nice to see his dream come to fruit.

However, Jack Black?! I mean, I love him and all… but … King Kong and Jack Black? Now I’m seeing a scene where Jack is super-sized by some giganto-ray, and he fights King Kong to the death in his boxers. I’m seeing him yell but in slow-mo to make him sound bigger… all cheesy like. But Jack Black in a SERIOUS King Kong movie? I don’t know if I can pull it off in my mind. hheh.

just out of curiousity anyone know how much money jackson raked from the lotr trilogies? whatever it was, it wasnt enough! those were amazing movies. However i am just curious

Finally, Jack Black gets a real shot at acting. Now if only they could do that for Bruce Campbell…

I have faith in Jackson’s ability to make a great movie, but I expected more from the monkey. I guess there are only so many ways a giant gorilla can look like, but at first glance it reminded me of the chimp in “Mighty Joe Young”.

Heh, King Kong AND dinosaurs? I mean, come on… What’s next? The offspring of Tarzan and Bigfoot, in a movie with mammoths?

  8. Scott

Have you read the book? Its FULL of dinosaurs…its not just a gimmick, its part of the original work. Just because the old movies left all that out does not mean it was the final word.

  9. BIGGIN

The 1933 version had the battle between Kong and the T-Rex.

  10. BIGGIN

…If I remember correctly there were also dinosaurs in Son of Kong.

Jackson’s got real talent in setting up his sequences. He knows how to push his actors into the best performances they’ll ever give (look at what he did with Sean Astin!). This movie’s gonna do well. It might not sweep the Academy, but it’ll certainly get nominated. Jack Black will act well, but he’ll never touch an award. It’ll make sure he’s got a real shot at other serious work in later films.

Oh… I wasn’t aware of that. My bad. I haven’t read the book nor seen any of the old movies. I just thought that it seemed quite far-fetched. Oh well, ignorance is bliss, or what do they say? (I’m being a tad ironic.)

Jack Black is going to kill this movie. How can anyone take Jack Black seriously I don’t know.

He scares me too, Jack Black I mean.
