alien-predator-disc.gif

This according to our friends at Wizard online. Some good ones in here. A quote is in order:

So many things have killed Gary Busey in the past. Well, his choice of film roles, namely. But in “Predator 2: I’m With Busey,” the dreadlocked alien hunter throws an impossibly sharp disc through countless sides of beef and splits Gary in two faster than you can scream “medicated!”

I’m sorry..but I think the cerebral Bore was missing in that list…a nasty weapon from Turok 2 on the N64…that weapon made me lol countless times!

  2. Energyone

The Cerebral Bore shows up in every other freaking list, so that’s ok.

The NUMBER ONE WEAPON though, is right on. You’re damn right it is the best.

  3. Traitorfish

How did light sabers lose to a Halloween costume, a plastic sword and a glow-in-the-dark plastic ring? Doesn’t make any sense…

  4. Lazarus

What about Judge Dredds Lawgiver pistol? Dan Dares Peacemaker pistol? Enzo Matrixs pistol?

Dredds has 6 different bullet types, Dan Dares seemed to solve every crisis situation with various energy beams, and Matrixs gun had a deathblossom mode. I’m sure most people can come up with other things they think are more ‘great’ than some of the obscure Marvel Comic weapons on the list.

Dan Dare is from 80′s Eagle comics, so thats probobly too obscure.
Matrix is in season 3-4 of Reboot.
Judge Dredd if you don’t know the various British comics, most should remember the crappy movie.

  5. brian_d

While I don’t think that the weapons are in most powerful order. There are some weapons that could easily have gone around the Green Lantern’s ring.

  6. joN.

surest sign that the list was compiled by separate individuals and not gone over enough times? #13 was darth maul’s lightsaber and #4 was lightsabers in general.

  7. Rex Hondo

The gun from “Runaway” made the list, so I am satisfied.

  8. Energyone

The Green Lantern ring is not made of plastic, and, it has always been known as the most powerful weapon in the DC universe.

I mean, the damn thing can MAKE any of the other weapons in the list, for pete’s sake.

  9. Derek

I proclaim this list false on the grounds that Kratos’ Blades of Chaos aren’t included.

  10. bluefaemoon

What did the Green Lantern ever DO with that ring? Certainly nothing close to what it was capable of. Oh sure, “good guy” morals and all that. Now if Sauron had managed to get his hands on it… THEN you would see a weapon!

  11. prion

isn’t kinda cheating to allow 50 weapons? how many more can we really get.

  12. Rob

To Lazarus: Wow that was the nerdiest thing I’ve ever read I think. *applauds*

  13. Dutch JaFO

They forgot the ultimate weapon : “The One Ring”
It may not be a weapon in the technical sense, but it did allow its user to hide, it did stretch the life of its user to unnatural lengths and it would have allowed its master to rule …

  14. chaosof99

The gravity gun on 32. That’s just complete blasphemy.

  15. Scotch!

Since they mentioned two weapons from Final Fantasy, it’s too bad that Vincent Valentines Tri-barreled revolver Cerberus didnt make it.

  16. Vincent

    Frostmourne isn’t on there :x

  17. Rico

Sorry, no way the lightsaber or a phaser should of lost to He-Man’s sword or even Iron Man’s armor. But, a fun list anyway. I need a few more of those for my collection. ;)

  18. Rex Hondo

Time to really go to Nerdville…

    A few minor quibbles.

I wouldn’t necessarily call a Cosmic Cube a weapon, per se. It’s an item of power, certainly, essentially a magic lamp with no wish limit, but not inherently offensive.

On a similar note, I’d say they made a good call leaving the One Ring off the list. Definitely powerful, but no directly offensive powers to speak of.

Aside from 80′s nostalgia value, I don’t see how He-Man’s sword ranks even as high as it does. They even say in the article, he doesn’t even really use the thing AS a weapon.

Bit of a wonky choice listing Lightsabers and dual-bladed sabers seperately, as well as listing the dual-blader as “Darth Maul’s” lightsaber, when others used one long before, and survived considerably longer, to boot.

While the Lance of Longinus may have been big and mean in Evangelion, it didn’t originate there. The Spear of Longinus (or Spear of Destiny) has shown up many places. Same with the chainsaw-bayonet.\

Minor nitpicking aside, I’d say they made a very wise choice in not going the route of “OMG!!! W0Lver1ne’s clawzorz FTW!!!!”

  19. Lifeisaglitch

I call shenanigans. I mean come on no Bat-arang ???? (You have Kryptonite-rang boom-rang electro-rang its the multi tool of weapons) Plus the cube shouldn’t have been on the list…. Besides ranking was way of :) everybody knows its the easiest thing to make all nerds agree on something like this… Noobs

    Also missing

Wolverines claws (Yeah i said it Rex)

    Cat-launcher (Also wielded by Batman/West)

The Sharingan (Yeah im calling it a weapon)

Shotgun (Doesn’t matter were its from its the shotgun)

AWP (Yeah its an awesome weapon..)

    Akira ( think about it)

  20. thekillercook

What about the infinity gauntlet?! Hellooo? it can turn the entire world into pudding andThanos has the spoon.

  21. qodopob

How come this was not on the list (copied from IMDB).

    [demonstrating a weapon]
    Zorg: Voila! The ZF-1.
[the weapon opens, and Zorg picks it up]
Zorg: It’s light. Handle’s adjustable for easy carrying, good for righties and lefties. Breaks down into four parts, undetectable by x-ray, ideal for quick, discreet interventions. A word on firepower. Titanium recharger, three thousand round clip with bursts of three to three hundred, and with the Replay button – another Zorg invention – it’s even easier.
[the lights illuminate a mannequin dressed in Police armor]
    Zorg: One shot…
[He spins on his heel and shoots the mannequin once]
Zorg: And Replay sends every following shot to the same location!
[He sprays bullets at the Mangalores, but all of them turn around and hit the mannequin]
Zorg: And to finish the job, all the Zorg oldies-but-goldies. Rocket launcher…
[a missile streaks out and destroys the mannequins riot shield]
Zorg: Arrow launcher, with exploding or poisonous gas heads…
[a set of darts hit the mannequin in the face]
Zorg: Very practical. Our famous net launcher…
[a net flies out and ensnares the mannequin]
    Zorg: The always efficient flame-thrower…
[a stream of flame burns the mannequin]
Zorg: [grins] My favorite. And for the Grand Finale, the all new Ice Cube System!
[a cloud of liquid nitrogen envelops the mannequin, causing it to burst into pieces and collapse to the floor. The Mangalores applaud]

PS. And it even has a little red button in the bottom to blow the whole thing up…

  22. RevFunk

I thought the energy sword being so high up on the list was HAX.

And also, I feel the Master Sword belongs to be higher up on that list. It has slayed evil SOOOO many times!!!!

And where in the name of the sweet baby buddha was Vincents gun from Final Fantasy?!

Apart from those flaws thats the best list of (geek) weapons I’ve seen yet

  23. prion

the most awesome weapon ever is River Tam ;)

  24. Lazarus

I think alot of the list was misrepresented for reasons others have listed above and: Plasma Granades don’t belong to Halo I remember them from other sources 15 years old, eg Warhammer 40k/Space Crusade. Hitlers handgun by their own admission was in one mini-series and only a special threat to one person, to the other 6 billion it’s a normal gun.

    Other weapons I’ve remembered:
Vashs gun from Trigun, usually a normal pistol it merged with his arm several times to become an angelic energy cannon. First use destroyed a city, second use he managed to aim up and it tore a chunk out of a moon, 3rd use he managed to cancel blasts from his twin brothers gun.
    The Krull Blade from Krull.
The Diarrhia gun (can’t remember it’s exact name) from Transmetropolitan.

  25. GT

Boy, number 8 on that list sure was amazing…

  26. General WX

I agree, where is the shotgun? It’s the best weapon in everything. All I ever hear while playing any FPS is “I got the shotgun! I got the shotgun!”

I’m gonna add an oddball one to the list of weapons that should have been added: the RYNO 2 from Ratchet and Clank. It was a friggen rapid-fire rocket launcher for christ’s sake, how it that not epic?

I was glad to see cap’s shield up there, but the Bat-arang and Wolverine’s claw’s should be up there as well.

  27. Fletch_Talon

    GINZU SWORD DAMMIT

    samurai pizza cats anyone?

“carefully withdrawing the patented self sharpening blade from its sheath, [speedy's] ready for action, he’s ready for danger, he’s ready to recieve the coveted emmy award for best stupid pet trick.”

honestly, speedy cerviche is good eough with one sword, but then he pulls the ginzu sword from the other end of his sheath/scabbard and he doesnt even have to hit anyone with it, just a swing of the sword and the bad guys are all “haha you missed” until they notice their giant robot is now in 2 pieces

  28. Rex Hondo

A shotgun is not on the list because, as it says in the introduction, to be considered for the list, a weapon must not be readily available in real life. Last I checked, the shotgun was plenty real.

Much as I love me some Batman, the various types of batarang are often little more than a cosmetically altered shuriken or boomerang.

If I had to take a guess, Wolverine’s claws didn’t make the cut (so to speak) because they aren’t necessarily a “weapon” in the sense that most of the rest of the items are. It would be like Superman’s fist of Bruce Lee’s foot making the list. They’re a part of his body, a manifestation of his mutant power. Besides, Wolvie’s been so overused and overhyped over the years that he and his claws went from cool to almost annoying years ago.

I also would have liked to seen the Glaive from “Krull,” but I suppose there’s only so much room for cool weapons from cheesy 80′s movies. :P

  29. Atlantis1982

qodopob, I agree; that should of been on the list. D:

  30. bacchae

Not a bad list, but a couple of personal favourites would have been the Chakram (Xena), the portal gun over the gravity gun every time, and pretty much every weapon from Armed and Dangerous (topsy turvy gun, world’s smallest black hole, land shark anyone??)

  31. Rezlow

Missed the Krull and that blade from I Come in Peace.

  32. Rezlow

    Oh and a Bat’leth!

  33. wonder6oy

    2 glaring omissions:
-The T-1000 Terminator; a mighty weapon by all means.
-Unreal Tournament 99′s Redeemer; the ultimate equalizer.

    :)

  34. Craig

    What about Chuck Norris’s Foot?

  35. why.n0t

and where is the zetniticat from Stargate? It paralizes, kils, and makes things disappear

  36. prion

    zatnicotel

  37. Rezlow

    And his beard!

  38. Dutch JaFO

Or as a certain general would say : the zat-gun aka zat …
    //
speaking of cool weapons. The Harlequins in Wh40k had a nice one that made the Ripper from UT-series look like a toygun ;)

  39. Lifeisaglitch

    (magical) KATANA is missing

  40. teenk

I can’t believe the Smart Gun from Aliens isn’t in that list. It’s by the far the coolest & baddest fictional weapon ever.

  41. Red

The Neon Genesis: Evangelion reference made me happy with the list despite its flaws.

  42. Bini

Yea, i gotta say, cool list… but where’s the Portal Gun?

    THAT is my choice.
