Check them out. Why Back To The Future was placed below American Pie, I have no idea. #1 is a no-brainer.

The fact that Back to the Future didn’t make the top ten and Clueless does blows my mind. Aside from that screw up I’d say the top ten is fairly spot on.
So.. a high school movie is a movie… that takes place in high school? Or are they mvoies you see in high school? I wouldn’t know, I’m not in high school yet.
Do you slip her the hot beef injection?
BTTF wasn’t no. 1?
I’m sorry. The list fails.
And where’s “weird science” in that list ?
wheres american beauty ?
Wow! That brings back a lot of memories. I’d forgotten half of those.
Breakfast Club FTW!
where is Not Another Teen Movie. That movie is all about High School and one of the funniest movie around.
I was getting pissed at not seeing Dazed and Confused and Fast Times At Ridgemont High.
I actually thought Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, or Fast Times, would be number one.
Dazed and Confused should DEFINATELY be there.
Uh, its in the list…
Breakfast Club clearly sits atop this pile of awesomeness. I figured it was number one after I relized American Pie was 22.
I have to say I actually didn’t like the Breakfast Club
there is one giant error in this list..
there is a shocking lack of Dean Cain in it!
What a bunch of crap! Napoleon Dynamite so low?
No “Back to school”, starring Rodney Dangerfield?…OK…guilty pleasure somewhat.
No “Porkies”
No “School of rock”
No “Teenwolf”
The worst crime of all though is NO FREAKING “ANIMAL HOUSE”.
I mean, WTF is that all about. Jim Belushi downed far too many beers to be forgotten like this. Probably the best high school movie ever and one of the funniest still. I tell you “The Breakfast club”? I’d rather eat my own vomit than sit through that crap again!!
Also, I can tell you that Hogwarts freaking school of wizardry is no “high school”. That applies to Gregory’s girl too!
Surely we can come up with a better list than this?
Well, Wayne.
Back To School was in College.
Porkies was in College.
School of Rock was in Grade School.
Teenwolf I admit was wrong not to be included.
And Animal House was in College.
The travisty lies that Sixteen Candles is number 49 when it should be higher
Stand and Deliver is 42 when it should be higher
Back to the Future is 28 when it should be much higher
Pretty in Pink is 26 when is should be higher
American Pie is 22 when it should be either much lower or off the dang list because that movie is terrible.
Say Anything is 11 when is should be in the top 5
Ferris Bueller’s Day off is 10 when it should be 1
Clueless is 7 when it shouldn’t be on the list, or much much much lower.
Heathers is 5 when it should be a lower.
And The Breakfast Club is awesome so It should at least be in the top 10. But 1 is pushing it.
And the fact that American Beauty isn’t even on the list makes that this list gets an F-. You lose Entertainment Weekly. You lose.
I am English, so have no idea what the difference is between high school, grade school and college – were these not just all school films, whatever level that was?
Hey JL:
One small correction -
Porky’s (and its sequels) did indeed take place in high school. Angel Beach, to be exact. I was stunned to find it not on the list.
Another glaring omission IMO was Better Off Dead with John Cusack. One of my all-time faves! Man, that movie had it all…
And here are a few more that weren’t on the list. Whether they should be is a matter of personal taste:
3′oclock High (nerd stands up to school bully)
My Man Adam (“From a zero to a hero!”)
Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (Keanu’s so-called breakout role – made me wish he’d break back in
School Ties (Brendan Fraser vs. Matt Damon in an anti-semitic deathmatch)
Get Over It (High school drama goodness – a guilty pleasure of mine).
Valley Girl – (“Have you been getting laid, Susie?”)
Vision Quest (Matthew Modine scores an impossibly hot older woman).
X-Men (a bit of a stretch, but it did take place in a school)
Footloose (Kevin Bacon vs. fundamental Christianity).
She’s All That (Like Pretty Woman, but without the whole hooker thing).
The Outsiders (the softer side of thugs – seriously, this one’s pretty good).
Pump Up the Volume (Christian Slater runs a pirate radio station out of his parents’ basement)
A few of these clearly deserve to take the place of those that ended up making the list. I mean, Peggy Sue Got Married, for the love of Pete?!?!?
That’s all I can come up with off the top of my head. Others?
cheers, Daniel
Very hard to believe that “Blackboard Jungle” was not listed. Should be in the top five.
porkys … rofl why would u want them on the list Z grade movies if that
i wouldnt take that list seriously
the home page to the sit has this “Justin Timberlake is bringing good music back — listen to the whole album”
i guess no other music artist makes good music
