I use to love looking through both the Wishbook and the Spiegel Christmas catalog. Great find! It actually has a picture of a toy I forgot I use to have, Battle at Sarlaac’s Pit boardgame (4th photo, item #22).
I miss my star wars action figures. I was a bit old for them (I was 14 at Christmas 1983), but between the Star Wars stuff and space Legos, I kept pretty busy, which was good because that was the first Christmas after my parents divorced. Thanks for digging up those horrible memories Scott! :’(
As I mentioned over on retroist, it looks like they recycled the exact same mold for the “Jabba-the-Hut Dungeon” as for the “Droid Factory”, the latter of which I had:
I still have that jabba the hut set as well as the ewok village, the at-st, y-wing, x-wing, and a whole slew of action figures. Would have more, but my brother decided to use some as target practice with his BB gun like 15 years ago. They aren’t in mint condition, as we played with the toys (oh my gosh), but in good condition considering.
Holy crap, I think I remember actually looking through that catalog! Well I looked through (and circled everything that I wanted, you know… for suggestions) every single one of them page by page, but I actually remember those pages! Ahh those were the days, it was so much simpler back then. Thanks for yanking me back to 8th grade Scott!!
Thanks Scott. And thank you for sharing this great memory with everyone that does not check out the forums… even thought there is no reason not to be posting on the boards. Come people… it’s the holiday, get to posting.
i remember during christmas season, going through the toys r’ us catalog and circleing all the things i want for christmas. good times.
Awesome. Reminds me of the feeling I got when I first saw scans of those fold out catalogs that came with Transformers.

Wow. That’s alot of Star Wars stuff. I thought I was geeky having made a Lambda shuttle model. You are the iconic Star Wars Geek.
Thanks for sharing the photos!
