Some of these are real winners. A quote:

Much like a movie’s trailer, the sole purpose of the poster is to entice you into seeing a particular film. When properly designed, they can draw in scores of viewers to an otherwise average (or below-average) movie. And when they’re botched, well, bad posters can also serve as the final nail in the coffin for an impending box-office flop.

yea i had to refresh a couple of times and even then only the top 4 images came up.

does anyone NOT notice the “little dog in the corner” for the big momma’s house 2 poster?

  3. Mike

Yeah I was asking myself the same question. He probably linked the wrong poster.

though i suppose all lists like this are subjective i couldn’t disagree more. i would like to see what his top 10 are so that i can see what the criteria he was using for this list. that’s just me though :)

Sorry, terrible list – poorly written article.

The Big Momma’s House 2 poster doesn’t match the desription, and as for The Aristocrats poster, what else would you put on the poster. You can’t show any one particular comedian, because that wouldn’t be fair, and you can hardly illustrate the contents of the joke.

Superman III, a bad poster? No. It may not be the best poster ever, but it doesn’t deserve to be anywhere near that list. And the guy didn’t give good reasons for it being #1:

“Give any fanboy with PhotoShop about five minutes and you’d see much better results.”

Yes, I am quite sure that you WOULD see much better results. Photoshop is an advanced tool that didn’t even exist when that poster was created. The poster is fine… Reeve is giving off a classic Reeve almost-smile, not a “mona lisa” smile. Richard Pryor is being Richard Pryor. It’s how he behaves in the movie, so at least the poster isn’t lying to us. And what’s with critiquing the artist for drawing things to scale? It wouldn’t be a secret base in the side of a mountain if it were obvious where it led to from the outside – much less from a couple hundred feet in the air, where an aircraft might spot it.

I give a big thumbs down to this list and the guy that wrote it.

    ditto

Why couldn’t you make an aristocrats poster with the joke on it? It’s just a family act.
