A quote to get us started:

Thinking back to most of the games you played on the NES, it’s easy to remember the 8-bit library as being simple and possibly even primitive. However, if you dig deep into the library, there is a surprising amount of games that maxed out the NES hardware to produce some impressive graphics and sound. With the Famicom / NES hardware remaining popular and active on the retail scene for over a decade, game developers had a lot of time to perfect their programming techniques and squeeze every last bit of power out of the iconic console. Below, RadarScope1 and racketboy team up to review some of the most demanding NES games in terms of hardware resources.

This is a pretty cool read.

I would’ve been upset if they hadn’t included Blaster Master. That is my all-time favorite NES game. I hope they bring it to Wii’s VC eventually.

I think I still have my NES in my garage… Now that finals are over, I think I know what I will do for the next 4 weeks!

I loved Crystalis. If you haven’t played it, try to pick it up on emulation. I hope it makes it to virtual console.

I thought I was the only person who played Master Blaster. That was a good article Scott.

I still have my NES; I generally use it whenever my three nephews (triplets!) come over. They’re only eight, so it’s a great thing for their attention spans. If only my sister (26) would stop playing that Yoshi game long enough for them to play it.

Blaster Master was a great game. I had COMPLETELY forgotten about Metal Storm though. I loved that game, but I could never find it to buy it. I remember renting it several times. Glad this came along to refresh my memory a bit. Going to have to keep an eye out for that on the VC.

Blaster Master is in my top 5 all time all consoles list.

    Just an FYI
