Looks like there is more to come, the person who posted this on YouTube wrote “This is a early temp version. Will be deleted soon.” And he left a web address http://www.whatsinthebox.nl
In the top left it said “Character Track Missing.” Was that part of the “drama” or was there a portion of the soundtrack that we were meant to hear that will be in the next version?
If this is going to be a commercial release of some sort I would think they would have to be connected to Valve as they soundeffects (I assume) are copyrighted.
Anyway, it was really good, I look forward to more.
There have been a few of these popping up. i like em there a great way to showcase the future of movies, via low budget with good story plot. great find Scott!!
Was that the music of LOST with the sound effects of Half-Life? Isn’t J.J. Abrams (created Lost & produced Cloverfield) a fan of Half-Life? “The numbers” even appeared as an easter egg in Episode Two.
Bring on the Episode Three and some ilovebees type of marketing undercurrent!
i think it said character track missing because, like Grdon Freeman, the person in the film never made any noise. So im guessing that maybe he was the “Character” and his sound track is missing from the film.
That was truely amazing, but i did find it odd that there were no actual sound affects from the world around him… like when he was putting the stuff in the back pack you could obviously tell that it had be added in later.
The missing character track is likely there to prevent telling too much of the plot in this little trailer. And they probably haven’t combined the background sound effects with the main camera sound file so that is why so many sounds were missing. That video was awesome though, it really felt like the game. Excited to see what comes of it.
pretty awesome.
Awesome stuff!

wow…that was…wow
Got boring real quick for me. And, did he look out if two different windows at the beginning and see the same thing, or was that just me?
Nah, same window.
Ah Nijmegen. I thought it was somewhere familliar once I saw the Connexion.
What’s in the box ?
How about “April Fool !”
I barely understood what was going on, and it was still riveting!

I very rarely use such strong language but that was most defiantly AWSOME POSSOM.
I can’t wait for the full version!
Very awesome stuff, just goes to show you don’t need a huge budget and A list celebs to get the viewer sucked in, I am wanting more! Good find Scott!

The constant jumpy camera motion gave me a headache…
This was totally awesome – give the guy who did this Spielbergs Chair and a few bucks for a own movie and Hollywood will be reborn!

@Soyweiser I am so glad you pointed out that it was in Nijmegen, I had the feeling I recognized some of the places. It was itching…
@Jesse Liberty
It’s mostly sounds/music from Half-Life 2 and its episodes. At least it sounds very much like it.

The guy who made this movie is NOW on Dutch TV.
He is a student, and made this with a 150 euro budget. + one pizza.
Hollywood is knocking on his door now, that’s why he made the news in Holland today.
He said he will desperately try to finish his study, before chasing this career.
He made this as an experiment for a 90 minute movie he wants to make. (the WILL be a part of this movie)
