Blizzard Entertainment’s upcoming dungeon destroyer Diablo III is said to be coming on December 24 according to a rumour on the website kaputik.com where Associates working on a Diablo 3 game design have supplied the following information.
The online beta multiplayer trial version is currently set for an 11th September release.
The final version is to be released before Christmas – 24th December 2009.

I seriously doubt that it will hit by then unless they get a move on classes being the official site only has 3 up atm but who honestly knows with blizz.

It could be out a little before Christmas, or afterwards, but no way that Dec 24th will be the release date. I’ll stake what little reputation I have on it.
Interesting thought, but no way. I don’t think we’ll see the game at all this year, but I also think that 12/24 would be a disastrous release date. I’m a sucker for midnight launches, but not at the expense of being sleep deprived for major family traditions. I still wouldn’t get to play it until 12/26 at the earliest. It just doesn’t make any business sense at all to me. It seems like it should have AT LEAST the weekend before Christmas in order to boost sales.

Never played either of them, but StarCraft (1) intrigued me more than Diablo II.
I mean if Blizz really wanted to kill off Diablo the yea a 12/24 release would be i deal as no one in tehr right mind will get it that night lol.
Not possible. Just weeks ago, Blizzard reps were saying that they’re not even finished with the First Act. They still have job postings on their website for the DIII Team. Starcraft 2 was announced way before DIII, and that hasn’t come out yet.
I recently went into gamestop to trade in some games, and when I asked what some new releases for the PC we’re, the man behind the counter said around November, but we all know how reliable that sort of info is, though something is better than nothing. Needless to say, I ponied up the money for a pre-order then and there.
No way in hell that this is coming out by december. Yeah it would be a nerdgasm but let’s be reasonable here… this _is_ Blizzard we are talking about now isn’t it?

That’s your sign right there that this is bull. Aside from Valve, only Blizz is known for (and can get away with) saying “it’s done when it’s done” and not really promise any dates except that it’ll eventually be out yet. Heck, even Starcraft: Ghost hasn’t been officially canceled.
SC2 before Diablo 3, that’s the only logical way for it to go.
Even though D3 looks really cool, I have never liked any of the Diablo games. They are just pretty versions of Gauntlet. I do want SC3 in the worst way.

The release date of this game has been known for a long time and has never changed… it’s the same date as WoWII actually: When it is done.

which is stupid, and probably an old mission statement, as they pretty much have SCII made.
The release date is pure fake. You can’t expect D3 for 2010. No way.

Blizzard never gives dates – rumours like this exist only to get pre-order money from overeager fanboys.
Something Blizzard HAS confirmed is that D3 will ‘follow the release of a Blizzard title’.
SC2 has yet to hit Closed beta, most of us in the community think this will be around august, for an end of year release of Wings of Liberty – a very long beta, first closed, and then an open beta after the first balance changes are made. It’s going to be pandemonium.
If you look at D3, most of it is still placeholder art – many models will still change, as they did with SC2, they are only just polishing the models for that. D3 will take at least another year.
The dates dont mesh. Plus Blizzard has a horrible track record on “release” dates. Heck they cant even meet Quarter releases. I call shenanigans.
Yeah I don’t see the motivation for them to push this out in any hurry. Fanboys are already chomping at the bit for both D3 and SC2. The last thing they need is to put out an unpolished product to cut their credibility and reputation down (not that I think they’d do that, just sayin). Besides with the WOW money press going strong they are by no means even close to financial dire straits. If this is out before 2011 I’m impressed.
The game will be released went hell froze over… Which in the case of Diablo is what I would call ironic…
