Hey, guys…do you remember that part in Resident Evil 2 where you were Milla Jovavich and you were in the desert with those two knife thingies and you got swarmed on the bus by a horde of zombies???
…me either…
In fact, this movie looks like it has nothing to do with the game whatsoever…here’s hoping that it’s only KINDA bad.
I saw the add, my friend and i kept trying to figure out what it was “is it about a Las Vegas killer?”
“no… see there’s a desert…” “oooooh, i bet it’s a sequel to planet of the apes….” “what? it couldn’t be that! don’t be stupid!” “hey look at all the half dead people… IT’S ONE OF THOSE POST APOCALYPTIC MOVIES THAT DIED IN THE EIGHTIES!!!” “wait… no… resident evil?!” “i thought they learned their lesson with the second one…”
I love anything post apocalyptic and I LOVE me some zombies. So I will be seeing this opening day. As far as it not being a recreation of the games… I have no problem with that. What works with a video game does not always work with a movie. I know opinions vary, but I thought the first Resident Evil movie was great, mainly because it respected the source material but didn’t try to recreate it. I felt like the second movie was not as good because they tried to make it too much like the games. Hopefully this one they will take a little bit of an artistic license here and there and actually make a fun film. After all there is nothing like a good post-apocalyptic zombie movie.

Milla Jovovich was brilliant as Lilu Dallas (spelling?) in The Fifth Element. Sooooo hawt!! Want to touch the hiney!! AAAAOOOOOOOO!!!! :3 (best line ever… “Lilu Dallas multi-pass!”)
The first Resident Evil movie sucked big bawls. Seriously, it wasn’t scary AT ALL. It was more funny than anything. I can’t believe they made another one again… *yawns*
I really don’t understand all the hype around these movies. The first and second were aweful, well to me (even though they came directly from a serie B horror movie, just recall yourself the first game’s intro … it was bad, but yet laughable & lovable). And yet all I heard about those movies were only good things. Was I deceived when I decided to rent those movies after hearing such praises? I still have nightmares about it, bored to death kind of nightmare.
I’ve been double crossed two times I won’t fall for the third.
The only good thing that the Resident Evil movies spawned is the dub made by Knoxs.

The Matrix dub also is worth your time if your still interested.
I think it would be cool…if it wasn’t named Resident Evil. Give the whole movie series a new name…l I mean, all you’d have to do is take out Umbrella and you’ve got a brand new franchise.
I agree if you name something you should at least try to be true to some of the canon.

Word up, Mirage…I couldn’t agree more with what you said. The main argument supporting movies like this (that unfortunately are crap after crap) is that they aren’t supposed to be like the video games. Now I love the idea of expanding any universe with multiple stories, but what you said is 100% right – you have to stay true to the source material or you’re just going to piss a lot of fans off, especially when you make a piece of crap movie.
They are just using the name to sell the movie. My friend would enjoy this movie whether or not it had RE slapped on it, but without RE slapped on it he wouldn’t notice.
