same here Vegasadelphia, in Indiana we have a few weeks to vote also. I voted about a week ago, although i don’t think we picked the best people out of the entire United States to be Presidential candidates. But… to each his own i guess.
Just got home from voting. Funny story – my polling place was in a local public school so the kids decided to have a bake sale. I was really really tempted by the cupcakes (even though I’m on an uber diet) until one of the children sneezed…right onto the aforementioned cupcakes. I decided to go with a bottled water after that! Anyways, Thrall ’08!
I voted last week, vote by mail in Oregon so every time i vote i set down in front of my computer and look up each bill/amendment/measure/candidate and try to make the vote that’s the best for my country and for the next generation. I really think more people should vote with their minds and less with their hearts cause sometimes the best thing isn’t always what makes us feel good.
The idea of another republican reminding of Bush is a bad sign, and that Obama seems to know what he is doing compare to the other senile old fart. Obama ’08.
Prediction – if Obama wins he will blame EVERYTHING that goes wrong in the world on Bush for the next 4 years. (Take responsibility for your own presidency)
As much as it pains me to say this, I think Obama will take it. and I for 1 would like to say hello to our new neighbours to the south. The United Socialists of America
you wont be more socialist voting for obama than for mccain, and thats coming from someone who is living now in south america, we are not all socialists.
Socialism is NOT a bad word. Neither is Libertarian the only difference in perception is that they are both unperfect fit different situation and US citizens are more sued to one than the other. Trust me its going great over here in Scandinavia, but we do not dis on liberal financial solutions.
I have never in my life been very interested in politics.
But I followed these elections very closely and I can only come to one conclusion:
If you vote for McCain and Palin for this election you are either a racist that will not accept an African American President or you are utterly brainwashed by the media. No-one in their right mind would vote for President Palin.
Already voted on Oct. 26th. Absentee balloting for the win! Also, around here, they were offering free burritos to those who voted. Not for anyone specifically, but just for voting in the first place.
As for who I voted for, I’ll keep that to myself. I think politics should be more of a personal matter than the media claims it to be.
I have been following this elections in the US even that Im not from the US, is interesting to see everything that is going on right now. Probably you are too close to your tv to post here, but anyway, reuters.com has a nice update minute by minute and msnbc a nice electoral interactive map…
“If you vote for McCain and Palin for this election you are either a racist that will not accept an African American President or you are utterly brainwashed by the media.” -Pirkel
I have no problem with a black president, or of any race. And if you think the media has been more for McCain than for Obama, then you’ve either been watching Fox News or are counting the numerous obama bashing emails as “media”. What matters to me are the moral issues. Abortion. The traditional view of marriage. Honestly, compared to those, you can go @#$! the economy. “What does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose his soul?”
@TD. As i said Im not even in the US, but maybe your morality is playing too big in what you are saying. Some people think different regarding abortion, and you hold no truths in that issue, neither I. And because of that free speech and the right to choose must prevail above all. Most of us have no god, which is as good as to have one, and I deeply respect someone who believes.
And that gives us a different approach to the issue of abortion, and one that even if we dont agree on, we must accept that other people think different.
I’m gonna grab comment 42, congratulate you Yanks on your next president Barack Obama, and a period of hopefully strong bi-party cooperation, headed by the likes of McCain (He gave a great speech, awesome guy wish i could be as positive when referring to Palin) Anyways now the election is over i hope the political polarization will dim and inspire an atmosphere of renewal, cooperation and hope.
I sat this one out. I’ve cast a ballot for president 4 times in my life (Clinton 92, Perot 96, Bush 00 and 04) and I have never regretted my choices. This year, there was just no choice that made me feel hopeful at all, and I don’t want to get sucked into the vacuum of voting against one person rather than for the other. Even the Libertarians deserted me this year (Bob Barr? WTF?). Steve Rogers is dead and William Adama is sort of busy, so there was no adequate write-in candidate, either. I understand and even applaud the spirit of “Vote no matter what,” but I just don’t believe in it anymore, especially when the two major candidates have really no appreciable differences. If your only choices are a kick in the male pouch from a left foot or a kick in the male pouch from a right foot, maybe it’s better to just skip the whole thing.
Anyway, I hope Obama does well. Even the folks that didn’t vote for him (or at all) owe him the benefit of the doubt. He earned his shot, let him take it. Unfortunately, the crap from both sides will probably just pick up where it left off first thing in the morning.
I’m Raybiker73 and I approve this message.
*DISCLAIMER* the poster holds a degree in Political Science with a concentration in Constitutional Law, which qualifies him to ask the all-important question, “Would you like fries with that?”
Some thing, different “political party”, oh yeah and one is older. It was like picking between a kick in the nuts or a kick in the anus.
Race had nothing to do with it for me, it was other issues, such as support of our troops, abortion and marriage. But still they both scare me. You’ve got rich old money who has never known what being poor is like. Or, young been there done that got the t-shirt, but doesn’t fully stand behind what the US stands for. Either way, meh. I was hoping McCain would win only because he would be opposite party what the house and senate are. So you have no one party in power. Look at what it did for Bush having a republican presidency, senate, house and judiciary. Umm, some dumb crap happened is what. Checks and Balances FTW!!!
Jeez were did all the good other guys go? Lamar Alexander for president. Too bad the democratic party told him he wasn’t extreme enough to even try. he is a normal honest guy who fixed a lot of bs in Tennessee when I live there, first as Superintendant of schools, the as governor. Now he is a senator.
@wonderboy. The rest of the world hates Bush’s guts and ours by default. ANYTHING would be better than another war, another bailout, or wreckless spending that the GOP has done since the days of Clinton’s BALANCED budget. How ironic is it that the GOP tried to use spending as a reason to vote against the Dems?
The government isn’t one man. At least not like Cheney was that one man, with his hand up Bush’s backside running him like a ventriloquists doll.
You watch too much Fox News. It’s going to be fine.
@Raybiker. I can see why you are serving fries. Not regretting Bush puts the quality of your education in question. You can’t have an emphasis in Constitutional Law and vote Bush with no regrets, unless you think that the Constitution is just sort of a guideline. Patriot Act uses the Constitution as toilet paper.
Now let me qualify myself. I am not a true Obama believer by any stretch. I just didn’t want 4 more years like the past 8. McCain can claim to be a maverick all you want, but Palin may as well host the 700 Club she is so far to the right. McCain’s record is still 90% Bush, and I don’t want 90% of the same stuff with a different talking head.
I liked Bill Clinton. Sue me. He balanced the budget and things were pretty freakin’ great. Since then, our economy is in tatters, our international standing is in tatters and we just need to finish what we started and get out. Not start new wars in Syria, Pakistan, or Iran. Bush has invaded all three in the past month!
The old line of tax and spend being the mantra of the democrats is silly. Bush just spent and spent. Now we owe Japan and China more than 1.1 TRILLION dollars. Genki des? Mingbai ma?
I have to laugh about GOP’s being scared for the future. They should have been scared for the present and the past 8 years.
I say everyone stop cheering or whining about the result, and let’s all get to work on fixing this problem. Quit running your credit cards up buying stupid stuff (ExtraLife gear is not stupid), put a little money in your local bank or credit union (the ones that didn’t need a bailout should get your money), and save for the future.
Unless Bush invades another country as a going away present…
From an outside point of view, nobody wanted mcCain to win outside the US. I know that thats why elections are done on only one country, but in europe, latin america, etc…. the bush administration was bad dude, Clinton was great, even Nixon was shinny in comparison… outside the US, I felt we need new air, not a so called “maverick” (whatever the heck that is), with 72 years old and a woman that I feel is like the Nintengo woman from the e3 conference.
Anyway, i wont put my hope high, I live in a shitty country, like most in south america we still have a lot to learn, and is not only money.
This is the second time I’ve asked this question in a public forum (what’s so great about Obama without using “change”, “Bush”, “he’s a great speaker” and “everyone else loves him”)…
…and the second time I’ve been denied an answer. I’m not saying it can’t be done; just that no one seems to care. No one really seems to know ANYTHING about this man except that he makes them feel good (yay).
Also, I might add that I’m really sick of people like you immediately assuming someone like me having skepticism over the new president elect must be in the can for Bush. In addition to being the worlds worst communicator, he’s pretty much allowed both Republicans and Democrats to spend our nation into total oblivion – OPPOSITE of anything conservative.
No one is safe from the fert!
Try to contain yourself when voting….
Vote! Vote for anyone you think is qualified, I don’t care if it’s Johnson and Dunaway; just get out and vote!
Actually, a fert is probably the best thing you could do considering the choices we have. Both are fert worthy!
Here in Nevada we have 2 and a half weeks to vote! I voted last Wednesday, have been feeling superior for DAYS now
Who’d you vote for? Obama 08!!!
same here Vegasadelphia, in Indiana we have a few weeks to vote also. I voted about a week ago, although i don’t think we picked the best people out of the entire United States to be Presidential candidates. But… to each his own i guess.

I decided to go with a bottled water after that! Anyways, Thrall ’08!
I just watched like 2 hours of election coverage. It hurt my eyes and ears and they didn’t mention any polls! Damn them…
I voted last week, vote by mail in Oregon so every time i vote i set down in front of my computer and look up each bill/amendment/measure/candidate and try to make the vote that’s the best for my country and for the next generation. I really think more people should vote with their minds and less with their hearts cause sometimes the best thing isn’t always what makes us feel good.
You dont have to vote. Especially if you think yer just “picking the lesser of two evils.”
I think even if you don’t like either one you need to vote for the one you think is “better”. I voted for Sarah Palin and that old guy xD
I voted for John McCain and Sarah Palin
Honestly, I just don’t wanna become an Obamanation. Nobama for me
Ye… Sarah palin…… That would be a great president for sure..
Not like the old guy will live through his 4 years.
Obama ’08.
TD you forgot to mention his middle name is Hussein. That seems to matter to the McCain side too. When short of facts, go for what you can I guess.
thank god im not american
plus sarah palin is a nut O__o;;;
then again…if she gets into power the world will end..but those last few seconds will be HILARIOUS
@Mercator- I find them funny, but the biggest issue to me here is abortion. I’m sorry, but I can’t abide by the murder of an unborn child. >.<
McCain 08 ya buncha n00bz lol
The idea of another republican reminding of Bush is a bad sign, and that Obama seems to know what he is doing compare to the other senile old fart. Obama ’08.
early voting = voter fraud (acorn)
Prediction – if Obama wins he will blame EVERYTHING that goes wrong in the world on Bush for the next 4 years. (Take responsibility for your own presidency)
Let’s focus a bit more on something less intense
Canadian politics!
Oot and aboot!
Will you at least make sure that you do vote for a president with a brain this time ?
The world will thank you if you do …
predict all day. i’d rather wait and see what actually happens.
@Scott- You think it’ll be worth staying up for? I’m debating getting no sleep just so I can find out more ^,^
Just got back.
Voted for McCain hope ya’ll voted the same.
I work for a major national news network…needless to say I’m having a lot of fun.
I thought americans finaly realised Bush is a retard, why vote for someone whos the same now? :s
NADER 08!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Glad to see the amount of McCain voters
FTW!
@Stephen F: McCain 08 ya buncha n00bz lol
Couldnt have said it better myself !Obama 08!

Maybe now that he’s president we can finally find out who the hell this guy really is.
I mean, he could end up being the greatest president ever, right? RIGHT!?
Someone convince me, please.
At least the rest of the world thinks we’re just the bee’s knees now. Yah, we’ll see how long that lasts.
