Charlie brooker is his name, ’screenwipe’ is the show, good watching, especially where he does a play on TV panel shows like ‘whatever-idol’ and just does it be being an utter b*stard to the contestants.
In Denmark we have a program called Troldspejlet(Magic Mirror), and it has been on television since the early 80’s, and with the same host. It is still as awesome as when i was a child.
Ok I have to know if the “software transmission” at the end of Data Base actually ever worked? No commentary as to what type of machine it was for, OS, or anything. Was it a prop noise, or actual software noise for recording to your cassette drive or something?
That Data Base show looks like it would be a laugh to watch. That guy worried about ti-99 chips going to the Russians…
I searched by Data Base and ITV to narrow the billions of hits down to a few million… I’m sure the host name or something would narrow it down much further.
I used to watch those shows when they were originally transmitted
Micro Live in particular.
They once ran a piece on Tron and on an in-development film called “the works” that never saw the light of day afaik.
I had that particular episode on video and watched the light cycle sequence clip on it over and over and over…
Aaah! Charlie Brooker and his excellent Screenwipe show. well worth a watch. Also Rab and Ryan from ConsoleVania \ Videogaiden two of the greatest videogame reviewers of all time. Well worth a look if you have a spare few minutes – CV is made available online for free here :-
ahaha, Video Gaiden, I watch that on BBC Scotland when its on. Its trippy and fairly random but a fantastic show!
Keep it funky now.
I seriously laughed out loud, in the classroom, everybody looked at me, but I couldn’t stop
(Submitted it to Digg, click name for story, thanks Scott!)

That is the BEST end credits theme song EVER!
Thank you Scott and Fred for the heads up on two shows that I MUST find on the web. Micro Live and Data Base.

I found this one on YouTube. Apparently Bill Gates is on it, but I haven’t looked at it yet…

That was a great look back at the early days of computer software and hardware. Those Scotts with their awesome accents made it even better…

We’re getting close to 1 and a half MB, that’s really quite a lot!
Thicksicle. I have a new favorite insult.
“Jill!”
“Barry!”
“Jill!”
“Barry!”
I love the “software transmission” at the end. What a wonderful idea.
Must have been very hard to get it recorded accurately enough, but still
am i the only one who needs subtitles? XD
