Well, proof that I am trying anyway. A neighbor and reader of ExtraLife snapped these pictures this morning as I made my way around my two miler this morning at around 7:30am.

So let it be known, I am out there, morning after morning, burning those tacos one at a time. You can see the other image where I saw him finally here.

UPDATE: Smoke and play, genius!

You’re a better man than I am for it. I can’t run two miles, and it’s so hot and humid around here I’m too much of an air conditioned baby to try it. Maybe if I didn’t have to be at work at a quarter til 7am I might :(

  2. wolfgang

    I say photoshopped
    ;)

  3. yusecki

hehe I’ve been promising myself for ages I will get fit. It just doesn’t seem to be happening!

  4. PepeLePue

I would go for a wii fit experiment, with detailed photos of all your flabby bits.

  5. Eric

Live out in the boonies with stray animals (danged college kids abandoning their pets), no road shoulders on roads that barely fit one car much less two and no sidewalks. Jogging is out of the question.

We’d live in the ‘burbs, but we don’t have any. The subdivisions in town are reserved for the rich only.

  6. Icesnake

Run two miles a day when you’re under 40. Then you’ll be able to use your wheelchair when you’re over 60 (after your knees are destroyed from all that running).

  7. Bearbutt

Doesn’t take much for me to loose weight, but I find walking/running to be boring. I’m more regularly seen riding a bike. :)

At the peak of my nerdishness, I had a bike equipped with a 50w FM 144-148mhz transceiver, 8ft antenna, lights, radio, etc. Prolly looked more like a police bike… and I could talk all over the world from there.

I’m with ya, brotha! Went for a two-mile walk/jog yesterday after work. Locked myself out of the house in the process, but hey, I’m tryin’…

  9. GoofyMonkey

Good job Scott! Keep it up. I can commiserate somewhat… I just started jogging in the morning too. (It really sucks)

  10. TD

    Woot! Go Scott!

  11. Hefernando

Your doing better than me. I can only run about a half mile before I have to downshift into low gear for a bit and Im only 32. Unless of coarse I am on a business trip and a hot chick comes into the workout room of the hotel I am staying in. Then I become Jesse Owens. :)

Good Job! It’s always a wise decision to stay active. I’ve got to agree with Bearbutt though, biking is (in my opinion) the most fun way to work out! When I’ve got ELR blaring in my ears it keeps me out on the trail longer!

  13. Peruchito

    awesome job! burn those tacos!

    …..

how many tacos need to get burned though???…..

  14. Gene

Am I the only one thinking that Scott is listening to either “Eye of the Tiger” or “Chariots of Fire”?

Then again on reflection hes probably just listening to NPR.

  15. benhateseverything

    You got paparazzi’d !

  16. Alcazzar

You look like you are sayin “who the hell is taken that photo?” in the first one, then in the 2nd you look like your thinkin “ohhhhh its him”.

  17. Chris

Running will get you in condition but it won’t burn fat. The tried and true multiple reps of pushups, situps and pullups will burn away that extra flab. Or at least that is how Navy SEALs do it. But what do they know…

  18. Me

    Hehe… round is a shape :P

  19. Valek

Inside Scotts CD player at the time is…..

DUN DUN DUN!! (read below for the lyrics)

Risin’ up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I’m back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive

So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don’t lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive

    CHORUS:
It’s the eye of the tiger, it’s the thrill of the fight
Risin’ up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he’s watchin’ us all in the eye of the tiger

Face to face, out in the heat
    Hangin’ tough, stayin’ hungry
They stack the odds ’til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive

    CHORUS

Risin’ up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I’m not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive

    CHORUS

    The eye of the tiger…

    hehehehe funny

Ah, getting into shape for the nerdtacular. A wise decision young padawan.
As for the music on his iPod:

    ‘You’re the best!
    Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down’

I’ve been working out also.. I’ve decided that maybe if I use some of my nerd science interests and try to incorporate my work out routine with this, I may actually stay on track… I bought this book: http://www.amazon.com/Mens-Health-Training-Log-Workouts/dp/159486666X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1214431245&sr=8-1 and I’ve been staying on track!
not only that, but my health insurance gives an incentive ;)

  25. mercator

I’m doing mine too. Not two miles yet, but I have a goal to meet the Army PT standards for my age (which is the same as Scott’s). I can pass the situps with ease, and I am getting closer with the pushups, but I must admit I have a ways to go yet on the run. I am still laying down 13 minutes walk/run miles on these trashed knees of mine.

    Keep it up Scott!

  26. vlad

    pon pon pata pon!

    (hehe)

  27. Brian D.

  30. Raybiker
