Not impressed with all the hype I keep hearing about. Besides, those aliens look a little too familiar, but I can’t put my finger on where I seen them.

    • Scott Johnson

Not impressed by the hype? What does that mean?

    • digisam

      iRobot?

    • snw

Looks pretty bad. Not because of the CGI or anything like that, more because it’s going to be the same old story.
      @atlantis1982
They look like the people/aliens in Jak an Daxter or w/e that game was called.

      • atlantis1982

Its not that, but the resemble is almost like that.

    • PWarren4

They look like the people from The Dark Crystal to me, just the coloring is different

  2. digisam

As long at it has a theme song preferably sung by Sealion Dion i will be happy, if not her, I’m sure the Jonas Bros could help out.

  3. thyrevan

Eh, looks like it might be a nice sci-fi action flick. It’s going to be in 3D though isn’t it? I hate 3D movies.

I like how Cameron’s Avatar’s font looks like Avatar: The Last Airbender’s font. I still wish the airbender guys stuck with the legal battle and gave J.C. the finger. He may have came up with Avatar in the 90s, but airbender actually came out before him.

To me it looks amazing. Cameron knows how to write a story. And we’ve learned long ago that story matters way more than visual effects. Having said that, the visual effects will blow you away. The trailer looks amazing, but imagining this in the new digital stereoscopic 3D will probably be mind blowing. If anyone has seen ‘up’ or any of the new digital 3d movies with the new style glasses, you know what i’m talking about.

  5. RedRanger

Trailer not working for me :(

  6. gildron

So. Much. Bass. My sub was almost shaking the house apart, and I have it turned down.

Though, the trailer was really cool. I look forward to this.

  7. Aeton

Is it me or was that Vin Diesel strapping into that machine thing at 0:38?

  8. Stefan Ernst

It looks surprisingly boring – and yet another movie where the people creating the horses have never seen a real horse before.

Why is Cameron stuff so extremely hyped?

  9. loki

    looks boring.
did they already make a movie like this? where humans tried to take over a planet? it was like a cartoon that come out this year or last year.

  10. Jim D

For as much money as has supposedly gone into this the CG didn’t really impress me. Blending real and fake should not look so…obvious in 2009 (see: District 9) Not that it’ll stop me from seeing it or anything.

  11. Dol_

I’m actually looking forward to a decent sci-fi story from Cameron. Terminator 2 and Aliens are both in my top 5 movies ever

  12. We Fly Spitfires

Woot, thanks for posting the real trailer! Looks awesome.

  13. Scott Fletcher

So THIS is what it feels like to not be exited by a franchise. I get it now. I apologize to everyone who ‘didn’t get’ Halo. You’re OK.

  14. Scott Fletcher

Ack. excited. not exited. Spelling errors can really suck the punch from wit. *lame*

  15. Kevin

I’m surprised by all the negative comments. I think this looks pretty cool. Trippy as all get out, but cool.

  16. Scott Johnson

Awesome or not, you’re all going to see it. Admit it. :)

  17. Nakoma

I am not a big Avatar fan to begin with, and all that CGI… I’ll pass.

  18. Zorbane

I thought it was pretty cool too.

  19. Dramble

Im tired of humanoid species wheres all the floating brains and blobs?

  20. Allen Stergess

I don’t understand people these days everything has to epic this epic that or the kids are not happy. I thought it looked gorgeous and I will be going to go see it!

  21. Land_Knight

I agree with Allen. This looks, well, stunning. I admit that the cgi does have that semi-plastic look, but hell, I sat through that gods-adwful piece of drek “Dreamcatcher” just to watch “Last Flight of the Osiris”
One other note… tell me, do they look more like night elves or trolls? I think we might be getting a sample of what they could do with WoW the movie

  22. bobacus

Looks like crap. I am sick of 2 Sci-fi themes.

    1. Humans are a-holes. We are racist, destructive, d-bag people and take advantage of any race (district 9) or planet (Avatar in this case). We get it. I don’t need a movie to tell me how monstrous the human race is. I can just turn on the news.

    2. Over use of CGI. I am sorry this doesnt look much different than FF:Spirits within. Lord of the Rings struck the perfect balance. Computers should enhance a flick, not be made completely by one.

    Gonna skip this one.

    • Dramble

Up and WALL-E. I rest my case.

      • bobacus

sorry those are CARTOONS. They have a cartoony style to them and are not meant to go for realism. That is why they work. This one is going for realism like Polar Express, Star Wars (new ones) and Beowulf. it just looks like a video game.

  23. idogis1

Just a question. Does this have anything to do with the cartoon of the same name? I hadn’t paid any attention to this movie because that is what I thought.

  24. mefe (peter steinke)

WHAT THE F#@$ ..i was expecting a little balled kid with tattoos on his head…. wtf

    • thyrevan

If I hadn’t read somewhere that Cameron made a fuss over the title of the Avatar movies, I’d have been confused too.

  25. PabloIV

I’m going to see the preview footage at an event with Zoe SaldaƱa tomorrow, will post pics when I come back.

  26. Level1Alt

    Loved it!

  27. kayshi

dont know odds are its gonna get my money… but i remember a cg movie coming out about humans taking over an indigenous population for what ever reason… and the moral dillemma about it… although i recognize that this one was conceived 14 years ago… but meh doesnt seem all that revolutionary to me! i think the movie was called battle fore terra…. not certain

    • Mike D

Hollywood does that all the time to eachother, Armageddon/ Deep Impact, Volcano/ Dante’s Peak, A bugs life/ Antz

  28. Davad

It was pretty sweet in 1080p from Apple’s site. I always fear when a movie gets so much hype though. There is almost always a let-down. I’ll still go plunk down cash at the Studio Movie Grill and wear those freaky glasses when it comes out.

  29. Jessika

I think it looks amazing! I can’t wait to see it!

  30. wonder6oy

^My heavens! (abundant negativity) Well, I certainly enjoyed the trailer anyway. And I’m pretty CGI nit-picky. On a related note, I thought District 9 really nailed it (realism).

However, are the humans really going to end up being douchebags again? That theme really is getting old (again, District 9 really nailed it).

  31. Mike D

    I want to see it…

Best case Scenario: a really well thought out film told by an award winning director. CGI aside Its a Sci Fi Film.

Worst case scenario: Space marines transfer their memories in tank grown Blue elves so that they may play world of warcraft in real life on another planet.

  32. CaelenVasius

To reiterate some people’s continued confusion, this has nothing to do with the Nickelodeon show. JC wrote ‘Avatar’ over a decade ago, and had the script annotated and patented. Fastforward to today, when a movie about said Nick show is announced. The name ‘Avatar’ had alreadty been taken, so Shyamalan had to go with the title ‘the Last Airbender’.

Secondly, about the complaints of CGI; Star wars has taught us a lesson. You can have the prettiest graphics in the metaverse, but if you lack a good story to go with it, it just becomes another piece of eye candy. HOWEVER, if the story is done right, having the extensive CGI ends up not mattering, and potentially enhancing the effects of the story. On a side note, since the movie is still four months away, they won’t release a full synopsis. Thus, only a basic overview of the story is available. Don’t make hasty judgements based on a simple sentence as has been given by the studio.

I’m excited by it, and looking forward to its potential.

  33. The_Julian

I look at this and think 3 and half hour movie.

I’d be lying to myself if I said I wasn’t going to see it, however.

  34. Frank

I thought this was the Airbender movie. My bad. Not going to see this particular one, that much I can tell.

  35. WarlockJA

I knew nothing about this movie before seeing the trailer. I heard Cameron was making a movie called Avatar and everyone was excited. I never thought it was “The Last Air Bender” to begin with. I saw the trailer and it looks like its going to be good. I don’t think the story is going to be great, but at least I will like looking at the screen.

  36. Erich the Mad Bassist

Hmm. This has renewed my hatred for Quicktime (just give me the file and use MPC/QT Alternative, dammit!)

*ahem* Okay, found it in a more palatable format on YouTube. My first thought was “Final Fantasy Clone,” second thought was, “Sexy Aliens,” and third thought: “This is gonna be hella-preachy!”

#2 will be enough to rent it.

  37. MikeS

Uhm, is it me, or are the aliens draenei, the helicoptors from Halo, and the floating earth from Nagrand? Scott? anyone?

  38. BlueNight

Sticking this trailer in front of District 9? Bad move, JC. D9′s aliens were so realistic I still can’t tell if they used CG or puppetry in some shots. Not the case here, unless the hospital scenes were CG.

  39. Blair in West Hollyweird

Looks a bit too polished. No dirt in the air, it is too sharp. Real life isn’t like that. Oh, don’t get me wrong, I’m totally going to go see it…but just giving my first impression.

  40. Settor65

Finally, it is only through a regional approach that one could develop new models for lasting security and cooperation in the region while trying to unify these divided countries around youth as their most precious asset. ,

  41. Mark99

I didnt like the coin flip scene either. ,
