How cool is that? We now have an official ExtraLife TF2 PC server, and you are all invited to get your groove on. Just don’t be shocked when my rocket ends up lodged in the side of your head sometime soon.

I’ve never understood how you connect to a server with only the server address. Is there some console command you need to use?
Open the console, type “connect x”, where x = the IP address. One can also add a favorite server with just the IP address.

I should add that I hate Toy Fort because the sides are not mirrored. Red’s and Blue’s Doors are open in different ways, therefore not matched…. I’ve NEVER one that map as Blue

In Favourites right-click and then select Add Favourite by IP
I’m just capping as a Scout right now.. noone there, so I can FINALLY win the map for a Change!

We are still in the EARLY phases of this thing and will make changes as needed with the will of the people!

There’s a 30 minute time limit. I’m not sure about an RTV, since this is the first Source box I have admin’d, but did you try typing RTV into a chat window?
If whatever Source has for native voting doesn’t work, I can install a mod that has some good voting features. We’ll probably be installing that mod before too long either way, as it has other features I want.
I used to host UT, CoD and MoH servers, and I must say that I’m pretty surprised at Source’s lack of admin features out of the box.
No biggie. It was 10 games before the server tried to change servers, but then I got computer Error (happened before a couple times with Steam).
Yea, typing “rtv” didn’t work, but like you said, you are still putting it together.
Maybe now I can finally get my “play with 7 friends” achievement

It came free with the hosting package we got. I think that alot of guys do their game organizing on TS, but since it’s a pretty much our server, I guess it is a bit redundant, now that you mention it.

It’s not that we don’t want 360 users on it, more so you cant play on it. The PC and 360 versions have two separate online communities that can’t interact.

Scott, you’re conflicted. You don’t like PvP in WoW because you suck at it, yet you play TF2 which is solely and completely PvP.
Seek professional help. For example, I will undertake to inhume your opponents for a modest 100g each…

TF2 PvP is balanced. WoW PvP is not.

A slight warning: TF2 is a whole different ballgame from BF2042. TF2 is very much an FPS-lite, in my mind – unrealistic, big weapons, etc. Still a lot of fun though

ChrisS, there are a few 3rd party admin tools like maniMod that i think work with TF2.
It makes admining the server a breeze.

Voting on a lot of TF2 servers is done through Beetle’s Mod. It’s a bit of a pain in the ass, but worthwhile. Also allows you to add fun options like random class sudden death (where everyone plays sudden death as the same class) or melee only sudden death, or even random class melee only sudden death =)
There is no map vote/votekick etc functionality native to TF2 servers unfortunately. You have to install a mod.
OOO!!! Sudden Death modes are fun! I hate maps where they have 2 hour time limits… or more!!! o_O Sometimes I’m on MUCh longer than I intend because of the long time limits and the map had standstills for the whole freaken time!
