We’ve heard from a number of readers today that the Nintendo World Store at the Rockefeller Center in New York City has ended its pre-order program for the Wii. I just talked to one of the sales reps at the NWS who did confirm that the flagship location stopped taking reservations at some point during Friday afternoon and have no plans to open up any further pre-orders. The staff expects that they will have enough consoles on hand to fulfill all pre-orders as well as meet the needs of those who come in on launch day to purchase one.

What is with Nintendo? Just let people reserve it! Jeez!
…why??
Is that directed towards me? I can’t tell…
Because what about the people that want to walk in and get one without a pre-order? Yeah right eh?
Noes!!!
What’s a Soruce?

are those the ones hanging next to the cocaine bananas?
When will someone do a game console launch that goes smoothly? GAHHH!
The only proper game console launch is one where you let the people line up and fight to the death over a very limited number! Silly people thinking that pre-ordering is a good idea …
They’re not taking pre-orders because there is no point, they have plenty to go around!
That is a good thing!
Novan – then they should tell people that.
Its ok by me I have my pre order in already. Ha cha cha
I was’nt even aware that they had started taking preorders.
I had my preorder on Monday, the day the Canadian EB Games preorders started. The lineup was so long that all of the PS3 and Wii preorders were spoken for. The main reason that Nintendo (and EB Games for that matter) limited the preorders is because they wanted enough during launch to sell them to the expected number of people that come in on launch day. The second reason is that it tends to weed out the people that preorder, and then never bother to pay for it which then screws the company over.
