Well, maybe this KITT is more.. “Fun” There’s lots of potential for this show, I just hope they don’t try and stick to the old formula. I just hope they don’t have the classic “Knight Rider-Commercial” cuts like the old series did. At least with Bionic Woman, there’s a little more to it. That show isn’t bad, it’s just got too much going on for it, I think.
And I’m sure everyone would have prefered “Hello, Michael.”
In my opinion, any car that is not a Trans Am cannot claim to be KITT, any more than a car that is not a Dodge Charger can claim to be the General Lee. Imagine if there were a remake of Back to the Future. Could anybody that has seen the original movie take it seriously if the car in question were not a DeLorean? Case closed.
Alec Baldwin would have been a great choice: “Michael, you’re a little pig!” The voice of CARR could be Kim Basinger.
Will Arnett has one of the best voices out there, so at least they got that going for the show. However, it would have been more appropriate if they used his voice for KISS (Kinght Industries Super Segway)

It’s not the make of the car they’re using, but that it looks like a brutish monster instead of something somewhat sophisticated.
Then again … if they’ve “re-imagined” the Knightrider then the gritty/muscular car could be a part of it, just like Battlestar Galactica is quite a bit more darker than the original.
Just as long as the following happens, it shouldn’t be too bad: 1: Don’t try to saddle as much “drama” as they did in the Bionic Woman. She was nearly dead, but brought back as a completely badass cyborg. More ass-kicking, less forced character interaction.
2: Have a better explanation for why the car can jump than “turbo boost.” Seriously, all that would mean is that it goes faster.
3: The evil twin with a goatee doesn’t cut it nowadays.

This “new” Knight Rider is NOT a silly remake like most of the other stuff coming out of Hollyweird.
This movie (and possible new series) is a SEQUEL to the original show. It follows the son, although to begin with he doesn’t know that, of the original Michael Knight and the new KITT is a totally new character – the Knight Industries THREE Thousand.
David Hasselhoff is making a guest appearance, but there’s been no word on whether or not the original KITT will.
The new KITT has some silly “transforming” abilities (possibly limited to the ugy spoiler gowing out of the back during “attack” mode) and can reportedly change colour. There is also a remote drone, so the new movie / show is sounding a lot like a mix of two old shows: Knight Rider meets Viper.
So it bears mentioning that we may get to see an evil UNCLE with a goatee!
Maybe we’ll see a female villain, affiliated with a rival company comprised of disgruntled former Knight Industries employees. The evil car, of course, would be the Knight Unlimited 9000.
So what if the original car isn’t being made ? It’s a ff-ing movie/series … they can build spaceships and entire planets that don’t even exist, so a car that’s not in production anymore shouldn’t be a problem at all.
I’m sure that car was chosen because they were paid for … not because it looks like it could be the ‘new’ Knightrider.

Its because the pontiac firebird is an ugly soab, you can get pontiac firebirds anywhere in america, loads of germans build Kitt cars out of them Its just product placement and a way to attract the younger crowd.
I think anybody said it good, a combo of the old show and Viper, with a little Speed Racer thrown in for good measure (the possible drone). Looks interesting at this point, but i need to see some more before I make a commitment to watch.

“Team Knight Rider” is a load of garbage that is ignored by anyone with more than one braincell. It was made by a bunch of morons who had no idea what “Knight Rider” really is … it reamains to be seen whether the people behind this new movie / series know what they’re doing. So far it sounds like they’re heading down the wrong road, but not as badly (yet!) as all the other silly “remakes”.

Okay. “Team Knightrider” did suck beyond anything that has ever sucked on TV before. Even more than “Viper”. But I like the new Bionic Woman, and BSG just plain rocks. I was turned off at first to a Mustang being KITT, but this is 2007 and times have changed. If GM could make a sports car that actually looked as good as it handled then maybe they could have gotten in on the show. Granted this is a Shelby, not your average Mustang but still! But a TV movie with the hopes of becoming a series??? I don’t know how well that will turn out. We will all just have to wait and watch. Will Arnet? Oh geez.
Editors side note: Was anyone else pissed that Optimus Prime was a Peterbuilt and not a Flat nosed Mac truck???

They are already in the process of doing an A-Team remake (a movie from memory), and like almost all the other “remakes”, it sounds awful, despite being done by the original creator! A bit like the new so-called “Battlestar Galactica”, the new “A-Team” will be more “realistic” and the members will be ex-Middle East veterans.
SOME of the other “remakes” / “updates” that were in the planning, but seem to have fallen over include “CHiPs” (starring Fez from That 70s Show), “The Greatest American Hero”, “Quantum Leap” and even a “Smurfs” movie using 3D computer graphics … and that last one will probably be the best of the bunch. I think the “Get Smart” movie is being released soon.
Will Arnett, Gob from Arrested Development. He’s been spotted on 30 Rock and other things like that too since then.
The Mike thing is iffy to me. Time will tell with this one. I had high hopes for Bionic Woman and look how that turned out.
