My review of “Mario Strikers: Charged”

62.jpgAs much as I have enjoyed my Wii, I have been chomping at the bit for a good solid fun multiplayer game for a while now. Something that is over the top, crazy fun. Seems my prayers have been answered. “Charged” is that game.

I will be the first to admit, I had some reservations about a game that at first appeared to be nothing more than a dirty port of a Gamecube title. Boy was I wrong. Charged is fast, furious, fun and extremely playable. I don’t think I have had this much fun with an “extreme” sports title since Mutant League Football back on the Genesis.

One important note is the quality of the graphics…this game looks great on my Plasma and shows that some good work can be done to squeeze out some nice graphical touches on a Wii. Don’t get me wrong, this is no Heavenly Sword or Gears of War graphically speaking, but it looks better than anything on the Wii thus far, and certainly miles ahead of a Gamecube title. Bright, animated, fast, detailed, great! Pretty impressed.

I also dig the overall attitude of this game…it’s not just some cute little mario game. It has some crunch and the overall presentation is sort of a weird hardcore version of the Mario universe.

And what bad can you say about a game that lets you go online and whoop up on your friends? This is one Wii title I can highly recommend to just about anyone. Definately getting the most spin at my house right now. I give it 4.5 disembodied sets of cow udders out of 5.

My friend code for the game is: 116070 933674
