For months now we are getting more and more and MORE spam comments, from real people, bots, etc. All of this is starting to be a HUGE chore for me to manage. They spoof ip’s, they get creative with link backs, etc. The bottom line is that I don’t feel like cleaning out spam every day from the database. Today I had 300 spam comments to remove. Good times.
So, the question is this: If I make it so you have to sign up to comment, how much heartburn would that give people? I have not done it yet, but I am definately considering it. Bots can’t sign up for accounts, and those loser bates that do, will be easy to kill. So your thoughts? Is it too much to ask?
UPDATE: So far many of you think that making people register once to post is a fine idea and not a big thing to ask. I will let a few more comments fill up before deciding what to do. The main thing is I don’t want to make things hard for you guys.
UPDATE: Ok…we will go with the image thing for a while and see how it goes. I think most people are ok with it. Email me if you think I am smoking crack.
