Young Roland has met Susan Delgado and like many good times in his life, danger looms large…and dangerously close. The town of Hambry holds many secrets, but for Roland, the most intriguing new discovery is that of the equally enamored Susan. But will forces greater than both conspire to tear apart this blossoming young love?

Here you go. Man I love this series. Just got #3 on Saturday and ripped through it as usual.

I’m currently listening to the whole series on my ipod. I’m in the middle of Song of Susannah. Truly an amazing series. I love how he incorporates so much of his other books and modern pop culture in it to blend fantasy and reality.

I’m really looking forward to more of this series. I hope it continues past the first 7 issue mini-series. I just feel like each issue is too short, though.

Also reading through Hellboy. Never caught him the first time around, so it’s really fun getting into the comics through the graphic novel collections.

Yeah, not thrilled that this is going only to last the 7 issues…they have to do more!

This was also on Newsarama under their May Previews for Marvel. They have also posted pages for Astonishing X-Men, Last of the Mohicans and Sensational Spider-Man. I love teaser pages. :D

I’m reading the series and loving it. My only question is will it just be a rehash of Wizard and Glass? I’d really like it if they expanded on the battles that followed the whole Hambry incident.

Here’s a thought– Was Roland’s ka set the moment he sacrificed his hawk to beat Cort? It seems that his curse is the belief that the end justifies the means.

Don’t forget May 5th, 2007 is Free Comic Book Day. Show your local comic book store some love while they do the same for you. And don’t be afraid to buy something while you’re there too.

I’m not really into the comic very much. I’ve read all the issues out so far but it isn’t really grabbing me. I am wondering if that is because I haven’t read the King books. Can someone else comment that is reading the comic and hasn’t read the novels on whether you like this series or not?

OMFG, what rock have I been living under? I did not know that there was a comic book adaptation of this! (This must prove that alien abductions do occur!) I loved the Dark Tower books. I must check this out!

The biggest crossover book series of all time. I think this series will go down in literary history as it ties almost everything Stephen King has ever written, and his own life, into one continuity. Genius. And he didn’t even originally plan for it to be that way.

As for the comics, I love the artwork, loved Jae Lee way back before his semi-crappy Image book, Hellshock. And Robin Furth runs a close second to King in terms of knowing this universe and how to write for it.

I’m 99% sure I read somewhere that this is just the first of several DT series Marvel and King have planned. I’d like to see the next one be a fully original story, maybe about some of the other characters like Rev. Callahan, etc.

    Rico,

Read the novels. It’s King’s most expansive work. As it progesses, the story integrates characters and places from the entire King universe (including the author himself). It’s classic good-vs-evil with all the moral ambiguity and redemption that accompanies such a journey. It didn’t give me nightmares, but when you turn out the lights, and hear a small scratching you tell yourself it’s just a branch, but deep down you wonder what abomination crawled out of the darkness between.

I only read the first two issues and I don’t really like the comic until now. The story is the same but the storytelling is way better on the books.

Rico, if you like King read the books. The comic will just ruin everything for you.

I was going to get the first book (Gunslinger?) via audio on iTunes, only to discover they have every book in the series except the first book. oh well, I guess I’ll have to actually read a book.
