The inevitable has happened. MGM have announced that we’ll be seeing Terminator 4 sometime in the future. The film was announced as part of MGM’s $200 million investment in a series of movies. No release date of the movie has been set, but taking into consideration that both John Brancato and Michael Ferris wrote a script back in 2004, it’s a safe bet we’ll be seeing the movie in 2008-ish.
As for casting, it’s not expected that the Governator, Arnold Schwarzenegger, will be the star of this show. Although a small cameo appearence is always on the table. Rumoured actors to take on the roll of the Terminator include Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ralph Moeller and Orlando Bloom. I can’t imagine the employee who mentioned Orlando Bloom still having a desk at MGM. None of the original cast members from either of the 3 films are due to make an appearence, allowing for an entire new storyline to take place.
As for Directors, Kurt Wimmer has been he only soul linked to the part. But after the steaming pile of poop that was Ultravoilet, do we really want him in the chair? As much as we’d all love James Cameron to reprise the role as Director, he’s only be linked as being involved in the writing/producing side of the project.
Has this got anyone’s juices flowing? Or after the shocker that was Termintoat 3, has all excitement of the franchise gone down the pooper?
