That’s already been done… I don’t know if you heard of it but I think it was called something like “Computer.”
Yeah…its bad to talk about it as not a game machine..that is where the money will be. stoopid stuff to say
This actually makes more sense than anything. People are stupid and they are intimitated by computers but this way you can introduce it and bypass al the retarded complaints about complicating things.
For Sony and Microsoft, their consoles are just a means to an end. For them, it’s not about the games. It’s about “convergence”.
There’s this thing they want you to buy – a “set top box” – which combines every function of all the devices you currently own from various companies into one box, and they both want to completely own that market, and have a huge stake in all revenues in the movies and tv that they expect you will be downloading from their subscription services.
There’s a reason Microsoft has been taking losses with the xbox – it’s not because they want to be a huge player in the game console industry, they could care less about game consoles. They largely failed with their Microsoft Media Center, and the Xbox is just another tactic.
Not knocking either Sony or Microsoft.. both have had great games for their current generation consoles, and I’m sure both will have great games for their nextgen gear. But in the end, they just want get their “set top boxes” (not video game systems) in your houses, and they’re using the gamer community to accomplish this goal.
At least Sony is being honest about it

Very well put…I think I have to agree with most of that.
That was a hell of a long article to say nothing more than the PS3 “should” be capable of transcribing audio and video.
I can’t believe none of these guys aren’t putting “Tivo-type” functionality in these systems – man, that really WOULD sell.
imho
