I’m sitting here laughing out loud… because it hit me about 2/3 of the way through how absolutely over the top geek that is. I can’t imagine anyone not fully entrenched in nerdship looking at this and going either “That is totally stupid” or “meh”. I feel at home.
I think about halfway in the sheer, unadulterated nerdiness of this kicked in, and the fact that I was trying to figure out if I could make a floppy drive do that just reinforced my own absurd level of geek.
It’s fake. I used those things for many a year and some of the harmonics plain do not come from that device period. Especially the higher pitched. Still pretty geeky.
Was just given a ten dollar bet that I won't be able to stop myself tweeting before midnight tonight. IT'S ON!!09:37:48 PM February 08, 2010from Tweetie
THAT WAS FRAKIN BRILLIANT!
But then again I’m a sucker for the march, best Williams piece ever imho.
Awesome.
The way it should be played from now on… Love it.

GEEK OVERLOAD!!!
Wow incredibly nerdy and awesome at the same time
And the award for Greatest Geek Moment of 2008, goes to…
I have to admit, I’m a little suspicious. Something in the sound seems vaguely…organic? Like a beatboxer or something.
In any case, if this is real, then that’s very very cool. Nicely done.
Watching this i can only wonder where the world would be today without the Internet.
Someone knows way too much about the harmonics of a floppy drive. Good job.
How did they come up with that?…. to much speer* time i guess…
I too was in awe at how over the top nerdy this was, but it just felt so right!

Best thing on the internet all day.
MY GOD I LOVE THE INTERNET!
The most ironic thing about this is they’re just amplifying the sounds the drive made during the Windows 3.1 installation.
(note: snarkiness alert)
Can somebody make me a floppy drive with a midi-in port?
……not exactly sure what’s going on here or how the sound’s being made XD
I don’t say this alot when it comes to the Internet, BUT THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!
made me laugh long after it ended
the sad part is how it sounds better than something coming off the atari 2600
Amazing! thats hilairious
wow …I haven’t laughed that hard in a long time!!
Thanks Scott!
What other song would they have chosen?
