Asheron’s Call will be the first mainstream MMORPG to shutdown. (That I know of.) Games like EverQuest 1, Anarchy Online, and others are still going, so we really have very little in the way of experience with shutdowns like this. I am not sure if AC1 is still going or not, but I think it is.
At any rate, Joystiq chronicles the death in a little post I thought you all might enjoy. Were any of you playing this game to the bitter end?
Update: Forgot about Earth and Beyond. Kinda liked that one before they pulled der pluggenhymen.
