And they can make bank while they are at it.
Get on the stick, and put a team on creating a graphical upgrade for Starcraft owners. Simple to do for them…just modify your already solid WCIII engine, keep all the AI and features the same, and BOOM! You have Starcraft 1.5 on your hands, and people would line up to buy that for 30 bucks. I know I would. Good idea, I tell you!!

actually I think I read somewhere that there’s a mod being made that is just that
Indeed there is: Project Revolution.
http://www.wc3campaigns.net/revolution/
It’s not released yet, but it’s pretty much exactly as you described. Don’t hold your breath for it being released any time soon though.
well thats my point…I knew about that mod, but its TAKING FOREVER!
If we’re gonna update old games, I want XCOM back!!!
got pwned?
sounds like a EA idear -_- ( quick cash )
I like the Chuck Norris news update on the front page ^_^
Actually, the WC3: StarCraft -mod (I’m not sure if it’s revolution or was it some other) has been in the making for some time and has been playable for some time too..
HOWEVER it is only and will be ONLY playable by the team and their friends, because Blizzard has not given them permission to release the mod to the public.
At least, this is what had been told the last time I checked the mod.
From that we can quite surely assume the coming of StarCraft2 or something like that, unless Blizzard suddenly gives (or has given) the permission to release the mod.
I think I like my idea better. Release another ecpansion pack for starcraft. Include more units, more story, and a higher unit cap. This would be enough just for me to go buy it.
I would love to see an expansion or a mod for Starcraft. I wish they would come out with Starcraft 2 or World of Starcraft.
I would be happy with at least an announcement of Starcraft2…
Dude, you should listen more to gaming steve :p
In one of his podcasts he mentioned this, and said that Starcratft 2 it would be like someone creating football 2, and saying that everybody should play that(since starcraft is so big in asia).
And even redoing the graphics would be problematic, since the maps are exactly measured basically per pixel, so changing stuff would propably mess a few things up. So bottom level: why try to fix it when it isnt broke?(ok the graphics might be but still…)
I was really excited when they said they were making a sequal to Starcraft back two or three years ago and then it turned out to be Starcraft: Ghost, which … disappeared (It didn’t look promising anyway). I think they should simply, just make a Starcraft 2.
Hm, I just want to have the option to increase the resolution in Starcraft. I haven’t gotten myself to play it through yet, since 640×480 (I think that’s what SC is running anyway, unless I’m going senile) is pretty annoying for me personally. I have my desktop running at 1600×1200 on a 19” CRT, so I’m a “high-res kinda guy”. Heh.
Does the old Starcraft even run on Win XP or do you have to tweak something in Windows to get it to work?
It runs fine on XP — I just started playing though the campaign again last weekend. Good times… I’d be happy with another expansion if not Starcraft 2 as well. Keep the old graphics, add some new units and a new campaign.
I imagine that once WoW dies down a bit, in another year or two, they’ll look more seriously at the possibility of Starcraft 2. I find it doubtful there will never be a sequel, personally. But I really hope they don’t go straight to the MMORPG route. I avoid such games, personally, and I’d much rather a new RTS.
Picking Ghost back up wouldn’t be a bad thing, either, if they can manage to retain more of the original vision it had. I was more than a little leery of all the changes that were being made to accomodate multiplayer. I was much more excited about it when it was going to be a high-tech Thief sort of game than when it started trying to do Pandora Tomorrow in the Starcraft universe. If that meant it was just a single-player game, then that’s fine by me. I’m not a big multiplayer gamer anyway.
I think since the original SC has such a huge cult following, if they did make a SC2 they would want to do a really great job with it. Most likly they would have to make there own graphics engine and everything else which would take alot of time and money.
It is highly likly that they have started making the game, wat phase it is in is the real question.
Taellosse, I think they dropped Ghost because of the fact that Splinter Cell and Halo were ruling the Sci-fi shooter genre and they decided to put all of their money, time, and devotion into something that would get them more money. WoW was exactly what they wanted and I have a very strong feeling that this is going to be one of those MMORPGs that never dies down until something bigger and better comes and as of yet, there’s no WoW killer. It’s really unfortunate because I’m not a WoW fan either. I’d rather play Quake online than pay monthly to … live online.
Too many people have stopped playing Quake… Me no like.
Eh, apart from Quake IV of course. I temporarily forgot about that one. Silly me.
I play Quake III Arena quite often online.
Actually I guy who worked and blizzard is now a co-worker for me and was saying Starcraft 2 is coming out in like 07 or 08
Ugh pardon my bad typing:

Jon: Nice to see that there are some Q3A people left.
