We’ve heard rumors about this since January, but no one really confirmed it until now. A scooper at Ain’t It Cool, managed to crack the website SectorSeven.org and found the information regarding Hugo Weaving being cast as the evil Megatron. When visiting the site, just type “NBETWO”. When the page loads click on the scorpion at the bottom and a little window will pop up. Read the email dated March 23 and you’ll see the following message:

“lets get some great but horribly miscast voice talent to do these robots”
they’re so going to mess this up at this rate

Don’t forget that leonard nimoy (spock) was Galvatron in the transformers movie (or the new cartoons that followed after the movie can’t remember which, maybe both) and he was awesome. hugo was great in the matrix and LoTR. you never know. Yeah, I could see that working. I mean, they’re probably not going to just get his voice, they’re probably going to add some sort of “Robotic” special effects.
I have not made my mind up on this movie yet… But the more I read about it, the more I’m looking forward to it. But still not too excited.

That is actually awesome… even though i really cant see that huge creepy (sharp edges) Megatron with that voice… but it still seems like an awesome fit (cant quite put my finger on why that would be) *awesome*
It seems like in this post-Matrix world, Mr. Weaving is being typecast as the deep-voiced villain, but I think he could do Megatron justice. The Beast Wars series had Megatron with a different voice -and- mannerisms (“Y-e-e-s…”), but he was still Megatron. This will be less of a shock than Optimus having a flaming paintjob.
on IMDB, Frank Welker is credited as Megatron…

I’m quite happy to hear this. Hugo Weaving has a hell of a lot of voice acting talent and I honestly can’t see him screwing this up.
I am not a transformers fanboy… I played with them alot when I was little and watched the cartoons…
Hugo Weaving will undoubetly kick ass as Megatron. btw Optimus seriously needed an overhaul anyway…
