I kinda like LP, deep down. They are the rap metal I never had as a kid. But you have to admit, this parody video is pretty funny. More after the link:

J/K Watched enough to know that LP weren’t the only ones guilty of that (and others still do it today… hear them all the time going down the street by the house).
LP was half decent back in the day.
im a huge fan on old linkin park, They really did something different imo
Haha, while I agree with everything this video is stating…it would have been more effective if that guy could carry a tune…
Or is that saying something in and of itself? Ha!
Yeh, kinda a fan of LP in the times of Hybrid Theory and Reanimation. didn’t like the stuff with JZ and their newest one, maybe ive just grown out of them.
reminded me of Da Vinci’s Notebook’s Title of the Song
I actually went to the same Art School as Mike and Joe- even if you don’t like their music, they do have some serious art skills.
(Didn’t know them personally, I graduated when it was their first year I do believe.)
It is really easy for people to make fun of musicians for having electric beats, and being slightly formulaic. Being a musician my self the truth is that beat making is a great art form, and it is very difficult to create something awesome. Also finding your sound is very hard and once you find it you got to keep it.
Kudos to Linkin Park for creating a great art, and boo to the people who can only make fun.
Linkin Park was mediocre in 2000, and lame today. I laugh at all you Linkin’ Park people defending them and claiming they “did something new”. No, they didn’t.
And no, they don’t have “serious art skills”.
@ Ethan
do you care to elaborate on that?
Why were they mediocre, why are they lame now? It’s easy to say, but please do tell us why you feel that way.
heh ye, lp sucks except you are a 5th grader …
Wow, I forgot how horrible Linkin Park was. Just to make sure, I went and on Youtube and watched some of their real music. Yes, Linkin Park made just as horrible of music as I remembered. I still feel bad for American culture as a whole for having to suffer through bands like them.
Maybe I’m sounding overly harsh, but their music just really sucks.
“Put to rest
What you thought of me
While I clean this slate
With the hands
Of uncertainty”
To me they were one of those bands that started the stupid emo movement of music. Every day before starting on a new song, the dipshits of Dashboard Confessional listens to a Linkin Park album.
LP never really gives me the impression that they are trying to create something new and interesting, and when you look at the lyrics and the way the songs are composed, I never get the impression that they believe what they’re singing. They’re at a point where they could be going in whatever direction they want to if they’d experiment a little but they keep putting out these sappy depressing songs that are completely uninspired. I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with writing emotional lyrics or writing about things that affect you personally, or even songs about feeling hurt or depressed, but it’s possible to do it in an engaging way instead of relying on cliches and a rabid fanbase.
I won’t say that LP sucks as I learned long ago that I don’t have to proper credentials to say that their music is of an inferior quality. That said, I can’t stand these guys. I’ve never liked them in the past and though my taste in music has expanded considerably, I still can’t seem to appreciate them.
Oh, and the video was awesome!
i was a big fan of old school lp, not so hot on there new stuff. but as a fan of lp i cant help but laugh at this video it is so spot on.
I’m not a great listener of music, half the time I don’t even know the names of songs I hear on the radio when I’m driving, probably because I’m part deaf and can’t make out the lyrics to songs. I just like some songs because their rythmn or instrumental is appealing. I’ve heard some songs of theirs I like. For example their song in Transformers was nice I thought (keep in mind only later when I read the lyrics did I find out why they’re called emo) and there’s one song I’ve dicovered gets used every time someone makes an animated transformers video. I tried other songs to see if they were good. I wouldn’t say they are all the same as I don’t find some of their songs appealing.
Nickelback. Now there’s a band whose every song is exactly the same. I can hear a new song I’ve never heard before and I know it’s Nickelback because it’s the same as every other song they’ve ever done, except perhaps their Spiderman theme.
Well… i still say what i said the first time i saw them… little kids with guitars… i personally don’t play any instrument but i do know my music, and no, i don’t go falling into 1 genre, from Sibelius to cannibal corpse, i like almost all the music in between, and when i don’t its because i never find any meaning on the lyrics.
LP has been successful not because their music has transcended… its because…. honestly… whats is the first thing you remember about each popular song of LP? even if u don’t like em… ain’t it the beat? that DJ “that not even the band knows it’s name” and the rap singer teamed up pretty good into making that happen, the singer has just been copying styles all the time, since the first cd with his Powerman 5000 look, and his latest skinny Bono. And Veko… i couldn’t agree more… Crawling in my skin? emo enough? Oh well gotta stop now, cu’z someone else will be bashing me for this 2 paragraph’s, may the circle of the internet carry on.
Peace.
i always thought linkin park were overrated, but now its worse than ever
Hilarious, ‘cuz it’s true. This mocks a good chunk of ‘Hybrid Theory’ fairly accurately. Compare ‘Papercut’, ‘In the End’ and ‘One Step Closer’, for example. I enjoy them for the pop music that they are, but the formulaic nature of their stuff just gets tired after a while for me. There’s nothing wrong with liking them, but there’s no particular reason they should be above some ribbing or criticism. And these dudes clocked some serious work to make this video, which is worth noting.
And let’s not kid ourselves, Linkin Park didn’t invent something new, here. Rock and Rap had been mixing for over a decade before they came on the scene. At best, they were more radio-friendly follow-ons to bands like “House of Pain” and “Rage against the Machine”.
I have to say that I really liked LP during Hybrid Theory and have always liked the directions that they’ve taken.
Now I know a lot of people like to be pretentious connoisseurs of music and think that this somehow gives them some sort of statutory rank or something, but in the end, it’s freakin’ music.
If it makes you feel something that you like, then like the music. If it doesn’t do anything for you, but does for others, let them have what works for them.
nah but they do have a point they get a bit repetitive.
but nightwish is worse.
the fisrt cd IMO was excellenet. It all went sort of downhill from there and now they suck
And i suppose people rapping about “their bitches and their hos”, and how they want to shoot someone but are really closet pussies who put on a facade to sell albums by CLAIMING to be bad asses and really are mammas boys. Yeah, thats basically the whole rap industry today. I aint defending linkin park. Yeah i still listen to them, but i aint gonna take up for them either, people are entitled to their opinions. Rap aint music, just people either feeding their insecurities by claiming they have all this and they are such badasses, or rapping about screwing some chick when its actually the opposite. In turn for selling their “image”, kids nowadays swoon over that idea.
Real music is back in the day, like John Cafferty. Where it was the instruments and the lyrics tying into the melody, not “hey can we make this computer make us sound good?” It was the artists, the combination of saxaphone, bass and electric guitar, and drummer putting their soul into music.
Not just talking rythmically about shit you’d never do and shit you dont have.
Flame me all you want, you’ll just be wasting air, but feel free to post your opinion. Its america(sorta), so speak.
I feel so bad for actually liking these guys back in the day. I actually remember thinking “is this the same song still, or did it change?” haha, it’s like even back then I knew subconsciously they suck!
