He didn’t say he didn’t have musical skill at all. he simply recorded all the bits he wanted. He has a killer sense of rythm and music, but he can’t actually play all of this out on either instrument.
So what Thragmol is saying is that you can’t make a video about drums and cut in pieces, because then ist’s plagerism….
I suspect you are talking about this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VaB_Do8HV2c
Dude this is not plagerism, I believe this is not even inspired by Michel Gondry…
oh, b.t.w. this is 2007, the internet is all about plagerism, and copying, so as far as I’m concerned there is no need to point it out. The truly originals will allways stand out though…
This will make a good discussion in the forums….
‘when is something not plagerism?’
Plagerism? Did this video even use anything Michel Gondry has done? The exact material?
I don’t thik so. But he probably used the same techniques of editing the video to make it.
This isn’t his only video like this. There’s the one where he’s doing a Bebox vocal mix just like this. It’s the evolution of sampling at it’s most entertaining. Now if this guy could do the “Wang Chung Tonight” video. That’d be funny too.
I have to agree with the Yahoo Serious resemblance. Kinda funny to even have that memory come up. “Young Einstein” was a funny movie when I was younger.
Just watched the Michael Gondry one, and there’s one serious difference – Gondry can play, he’s just looping sections rather than building them from scratch…
Didn’t the White Stripes do a video like that? Has he therefore plagiarised them?
Somebody here needs to go look up the Disney themed “Fair Use” video to get a grasp of just what exactly a copyright applies to and to what limitations. *points at Thragmol* Go now and be enlightened.
Amazing! Truly brilliant! Heh I bet that in youtube, every other comment is “This is Soooo fake! Omgzorgel! I cants beliive some1 would think this is trues! Lollercopter!” But i must say once more, Brilliant, wish I could do that.
This clip is kinda old, saw it 6 months ago…
btw, Lasse is Norwegian. And he’s supposed to be in the class over me at Volda…
Lasse has become quite the youtube celbrity.
Check out his latest clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldPf3yqq3-8
one question i have is, how can you not know how to play the drums or the piano, but be able to put something like this together….still pretty cool…

Unfreakinbelievable! That is some serious talent, but obviously a brilliant mind for music!
oh yea, I remember seeing this one a while ago:

Same guy..
It’s pretty cool stuff.
It’s “where are they now” Yahoo Serious edition.
This is how you get famous on the tubernet without being a part of ELR.
Dang. That guy has some mad skills.
Editing Skills that is.
Brilliant! Thanks for posting it, Scott.
One of my favorite online videos now.
Thank you Scott.
i hate to ruin a good party. but this is plagerism of another director’s work, michel gondry.

Every audiovisual recording has some kind of post-production applied to it, does that make them ALL “plagiarists”?
“Dude, don’t worry about it – we can fix it in the final edit.”
Just watched the Michael Gondry one, and there’s one serious difference – Gondry can play, he’s just looping sections rather than building them from scratch…

Michel Gondry actually directed the White Stripes video (Hardest Button to Button)
Sorry didn’t mean to stir things up. The resmeblence was just to close for me. Though everyone is entitled to there opinions.

Interesting. It would be cool to just see the run of sounds before editing them together.
Just one word:
Friggin’-A!
It’s official: as long as there are still people with that much time on their hands, we’re safe
(Great stuff, btw)
That stuff is amazing, thanks for that stuff Scott
