Still, it's true that to have a really great partner it's gonna take quite a while to build up that trust and make things click, not to mention you both have to want to go in the same direction.Maybe your time for a good work partner just isn't there yet. In my case I've been incredibly lucky to have my girlfriend (and future wife) be my partner in crime for work and so far so good. Sure there's problems here and there but things just have to be worked out, it's never gonna be perfect as I'm sure you already know very well.

Well I don’t think there is a determined number of “slots”, it probably just depends on how many good relationships a person can handle. Someone who contributes money to allow you take on the job full-time.

You need a silent partner. Got a whole ~10 readers per day and all, woot! But, what I see that other comics have that you don't have is a consistent character base. I believe Mario is your most consistent character, where PA, PVP, C+A+Del and the like have a character base that has grown over time, characters you can relate to such as Gabe and Tycho. I think you have done just fine so far on your own growing ExtraLife into a fabulous community. I've toyed with the idea of having a partner in crime, but I can't imagine any of my friends to be dedicated to my work as much as I am, unless I am sharing profits with them, but there aren't any profits to be had. But, if you are planning to grow this into a business then you will need partners to bounce ideas off at least.I'm just a lowly webcomic novice so don't listen to me, I love ExtraLife and the constant content keeps me coming back. Maybe all you need is a partner to post news stories and such to take that burden off you and keep things fresh while you are on vacation(s).

Personally, I’m just starting out in the webcomic bis after enjoying such comics as PA and EL for years I figured it was time to give back and start my own. Personally I think it would be hard to have a partner come in after so many years. You would be INCREDIBLY lucky if you could find someone that is so willing to work with you that they don't want anything changed. If you want to take on a whole new project, then sure, you could probably find yourself a good partner for that. But in order to find someone to join your ranks in what you currently do, it will be difficult.

I think the best thing – when it comes to partners – is to take one on from the beginning.
