The following game endings are all either vague, slightly ambiguous or just downright indecipherable without advanced degrees in picking up on minuscule – but vastly important – plot details. In an effort to make things a little easier, we’ve broken down the following six confusing endings so they can be explained in a sentence, while also including a detailed Q&A for each for anyone who wants all the details. Simple, eh?

Shadow of the Colossus is such a wonderful game, and they do do a good job here of tying up what everything (could) mean.
That junk theory about Braid being about the A-bomb is still going around? Jonathan Blow himself has said that people are focusing too much on that one quote in the epilogue and that the a-bomb interpretation was not what he intended.
@Mike Pavone: Its not true? Thats kind of sad, because that would have the been greatest twist in videogame history.
@MrMoon: There’s still a fairly big twist. Tim is essentially the bad guy (a stalker perhaps), and the princess runs away from him. The monster that kidnapped her is acually a knight that rescued her from you.
Cool stuff. Although cool– for the site if they screwed up the braid story (per Mikey Pavoney’s commeny).
Noticed this linked on the site related to Scott’s original link:

I don’t remember link being particularly emo in any of the games, but the presentation makes up for it.
Trying to make sense of MGS4’s ending while reading that made my brain jump out the window, run back up the stairs, and repeated the process until it was finished.
And – Wander changed slightly through the entire game of SotC? Really? I know what happened at the end, and it’s one heck of a game, but I never noticed this. I need to play through it again to see this happening.
Braid is totally the A-Bomb theory. I doubt Blow ever said anything to the contrary.
Interesting read.
One game ending that confused the hell out of me was “The 7th Guest”… replayed the last puzzle so many times before I figured out:
OK, it’s an old game, so probably not many people will be spoiled… but YOU are the little kid…
Oh, and the follow up (11th Hour) had me confused too… They said multiple endings depending on your actions in game, and they give you 3 doors to pick from…. LAME!
The 7th Guest was a awesome game for it’s time, it was also one of the first CD-Rom games I ever saw
@Jerk: Listen to this Destructoid podcast/interview if you don’t believe me: http://www.podtoid.com/podtoid-66-braidtoid/
This interview: http://www.avclub.com/articles/game-designer-jonathan-blow-what-we-all-missed-abo,8626/ gives some more details about what Blow was thinking about, but in a rather vague way.
David Hellman (the artist for the game), gives some clues as to the meaning of the game on his blog at davidhellman.net Look for posts title “The Art of Braid” and also the braid page linked from the man page of his site.
I never noticed a change in Wander’s appearance. I wonder how accurate this stuff is, or whether it’s completely unsupported speculation.
I’m still confused.
