Blizzard puts a huge orc statue up! Alliance players saddened.
- By Scott Johnson on March 16th, 2009Pretty awesome. If you look REALLY closely, he is wearing a tiny name tag that clearly says, “Gerp” on it. Thanks for the headsup, Gerry!

That is an utterly incredible statue makes me damn proud to be a member of the Horde.
If I needed another reason that is.
Just need some Henry (Dark or otherwise) for perfection.
Just wait until hey put up a Human Paladin or Death Knight, then we’ll see who is sad lol.
Troll DK please…Glowing eyes and all. it would be made of soooo much win…
I play Alliance. This statue is better than a human paladin because it shows Blizzard’s unique contribution to the fantasy world: orcs cast in a heroic light.
I imagine hundreds of years from now when society falls and rises up once more an archaeologist will mutter confusedly to himself as he unearths a statue of a creature not like any he’s seen before, he muses to himself “be this a demon or god that these creatures worshipped?”
We know the truth, it was both.
Looks like a copy of the one that Gabe from PA bought at the child’s play auction.
I work in Irvine, maybe I’ll try to find their offices and check it out. Looks pretty rad.
That’s pretty awesome.. but how’d you all miss the little gnome in there between the wolf’s legs? There’s no favoritism here, we’re represented!

(3 gnomes)
Meh. I think a human clashing swords with an orc statue would’ve been better than just an orc sitting there. Thinking teaser cinematic from Warcraft III style. Warcraft in general has just as much to do with the Alliance as it does with the Horde.
Forgot to add, also would’ve better conveyed the theme of Warcraft, as in factions fighting each other right?
3,000 replicas were given to Blizzard employees as a thank you. Bets to how long until you see one on E-bay?
Reminds me of the giant Space Marine statue outside Games Workshop’s HQ- though ironically since GW actually make collectable statues, this one looks a bit more detailed.
FOR THE HORDE! *headbutts desk*
You can’t have a cool alliance statue, it would be rubbish to have a crying statue. It’s all you pansy alliance ever do!
For the Horde!
Oh, and check the caption on that first photo:
“The 12-foot orc and wolf sculpture was created by the Weta Workshop, the same Australian film-effects company behind “The Lord of the Rings” movies.”
They are a New Zealand shop, not Australian. I feel like I’m inside a Flight of the Conchords episode!
there is a night elf rogue statue but you can’t see it
See, blizzard isn’t that alliance biased after all!
And all those people that are going to be on there forums “omg they are so biased” i think a awesome orc on a awesome wolf would look better than any kind of alliance and any class, imagine a backwards looking draenei on a shitty elephant, yea, or a gay paladin on a sparkly horse, mhm, thatll go well
i demand a leeroy statue

“created by the Weta Workshop, the same Australian film-effects company”
“Australian”
NO! BAD!
Weta Workshop is a NEW ZEALAND company. God, I feel bad for Kiwis (New Zealanders) sometimes. I love the comments on that site about it.
Erm, regardless… Awesome statue. Would make for a hell of a drive to the front door.
To bad the game does not look that realistic
Sweet!!! How bad-ass would it be to have a statue like that out in front of the office you work in?!?
Feh. You won’t catch a dwarf sitting around in the open all day, being shat upon by birds.
For the Alliance!
I play alliance and I am not sad.
I do expect a rise in horde smugness though.
There really is a gnome rogue hiding between the wolf’s legs, he’s just difficult to see because he’s cloaked like any proper rogue.
There wasn’t any doubt about Blizz’s bias before this and none after.
Who says this as anything to do with WoW though? If I’m not mistaken, wasn’t it Orcs vs Humans for the first Warcraft and Orcs canonically won that game as proven by the sequel.
Doesn’t make them Horde or Alliance biased, just a symbol of Blizzard history from how all this actually started in my opinion.

BTW for those living in Irvine area, don’t bother going, it’s a gated compound and you can’t see much from the outside.
That’s an awesome statue. Oh, and…. ROFL @ Madmarkus… FOR THE HORDE!!
Another quality creation from Weta.
Oh, and glad to see they corrected where Weta is actually based. Go NZ!
ohhhh …no no you guys need to see the larger pic there puting that statue now so that later there going to put in a 20 meter tail elek about to give mr.orc some sweet face time with lady 185 hoof with leeroy jankins riding on top of it thats what your all missing.
(GRAB YOUR SWORD AND FIGHT THE HORDE!!)
