most of these animations are NOT in the game at all.
He must have used a 3d modeling engine to extract the model and place em however he like because this is light years ahead. This is just awesome one of the best machianima.
I’d love to know what software he is using. I would not think that one could get access to the blizzard models so openly. While it would play better with a suspense soundtrack instead of the Jpop, you can’t knock the visual direction. It’s a nice piece of work.
Holy moly…. best WoW movie I have seen. Tales of the Past III had a better story but the animation in this was just unbelievable. I doubt that dude will have trouble getting work at some sort of animation studio should his layoff come to be.
my understanding is you need a 3D program, such as Maya. The WoW models are available if you know how to export them.
Check out: www(dot)wowmodelviewer(dot)org
Once you have them exported its a matter of using the 3D progam to animate the models, light the scene, and so on. You can even export the locations, like Stormwind, to use in the rendering you create. I just wish I knew more than this basic info…
I’d really like to know how this was made! As noted, a lot of the animations are NOT from the game – they are definitely customized animations. Had to be animated in something that can create and edit bones. Like Blender or Maya.
Song was terrible. Decent animation work. And it was pretty much the quality of the game model movies we’ve seen from Blizzard. Maya is what he used. I just wish he would have upped the quality of the textures on the faces, other than adding the scars to the Blood Elf and Human rogues.
Good grief! Not just incredible animation but the story-telling, direction, cinematography too! So good. They should hire him especially if he is facing a layoff.
I find it safe, though not really, to say that I am alone in liking the music. This is the kind of animation that really pushes what people do with machinima.
Jeez. I read these comments and was expecting something really special. It seemed pretty average to me. It’s not like it’s better than any other animation inside or outside of any existing games. You guys are easily impressed.
Still, credit for the work it was probably quite time consuming.
I wouldn’t classifiy this as machinima. Isn’t machinima when you take chunks of pre-animated stuff & edit it to your liking?
.
This is exported, tweaked up models in completely new animations.
An agent sent to assassinate Onyxia while she is inside Stormwind and unable to transform to defend herself for risk of exposing her true identity!? Brilliant!
The song wasn’t chosen for the content, but for the beat, which suits it perfectly.
Also, I don’t believe the rogue was sent to assassinate Onyxia in the open so she couldn’t defend herself. She was sent to defeat Lady Katarina Prestor and then found out that she had bitten over more than she could chew.
Also to Khan, you are very deluded if you think that this is the level of animation you see in games everywhere. This piece is far beyond that, actually reaching Cut-Scene levels of details on the animation side. The guy knows what he’s doing and has managed to create a level of fluidness you don’t see in anything but the most topnotch cutscenes in the most expensive AAA titels. It’s the small details that does it, like when the guard walks up the stair in the inn, his feet does that sligth tipup that you do when walking on stairs.
This guy has one of the best grasps of movement I’ve seen in a long time, whoever doesn’t pick up this guy, will regret it.
I don’t want to start a flamewar about this crap, but I’m not deluded. Maybe you should take some time off WoW and actually play some recent games. I just wasn’t that impressed with that video. Some parts are really good, but other parts are kinda annoying. Seems like he’s using too much slow-motion effect to mask the fact that he can’t get flying objects/people to look right (which is pretty challenging anyway).
wow, that is excellent, I would of chosen a less obnoxious song however.
Woah, that’s really awesome. The amount of work to re-animated all thoses models, it’s incredible.
Never having played WoW before, was everything I saw in the video (with exception of the blurring effects on some of the slow-motion stuff) in game?
Wow that was the most incredible machinima ever! I didn’t even recognize half those animations from the game! Where can I see more of this guys stuff?
Forget Blizzard… Lucas Arts should hire this guy.
Kinda makes me want to level my rogue…
Holy Jebus! The amount of work that must have gone into that in unthinkable. That was awesome. Good find.
*changing my pants now*
That was fekkin’ brilliant.
Holy cow! That’s awesome!
Best wow movie ever.
Una güevonada de arrecho el video! Bestial!
Awesome. It’s a terrible shame the game doesn’t actually play like that. If it did, I’d surely still be playing…
@lo: Yes, everything
Freakin awesome!
Great wuxia / anime WOW mecha! Song is classic mindnumbing/annoying JPop, which took it down to a 7 out of 10.
With the sound off, 9 to 9.5. Insert a more traditional soundtrack, BOOM. Perfection.

Just incredible.
Great flow, direction, everything.
Wow.
Holy moly…. best WoW movie I have seen. Tales of the Past III had a better story but the animation in this was just unbelievable. I doubt that dude will have trouble getting work at some sort of animation studio should his layoff come to be.
I am off to level my rogue!! Hahha…

I wish Preists could fight off Rogues that way in game.
You should check this

I think ecverything I could possibly say has already been said…
That…is beyond awesome. That was gorgeous. That was indeed the quality of a Blizzard cutscene. Holy cow
Wow that is amazing work!

meh, most of these scenes are carbon copy of metal gear solid 2
………………. 1337
im finding it hard to choose whats better, this or wrathgate…
The ‘music’ in the background is un-fucking-bearable.
not great music i’ll admit, but so worth it for the vid
I find it safe, though not really, to say that I am alone in liking the music. This is the kind of animation that really pushes what people do with machinima.
Woot!
Wow. Just wow.
you guys know that theres a podcast called craft of war? Its a warcraft podcast, im not sure if its the same dude though nways… Epic

This was actually better than the cut scene @ the Wrathgate
animation-wise
But at least the Wrathgate was not ruined by annoying Japanese Pop Music ^^
That was not Japanese pop music, but I get your point.
I wouldn’t classifiy this as machinima. Isn’t machinima when you take chunks of pre-animated stuff & edit it to your liking?

That was… fantastic. I dunno, I kinda liked the music, it isn’t something I would download an listen to… but, it worked for me.
Wow, I really like the storytelling in this, and the way everything looks like WoW with out being it.
Amazing job, I’d say better then any other WoW video I’ve seen, even Wrath gate.
Holy crap that was amazing.
And they say rogues aren’t OP.
The song wasn’t chosen for the content, but for the beat, which suits it perfectly.

Quaade, I’m glad someone else FINALLY saw that is what the song was chosen for. Incredible vid!!!

Khan: Meh. From hells heart I stab at thee.
