Today’s podcast is all about web comics, where they came from, where they are today, and perhaps where they are headed. We have no less than three working web comic creators on the show.

There is a little syndication bashing while we are at it, and we discuss if its “cool” anymore to be geeks. All that and an interesting conspiracy theory involving the Apple / Intel deal.

You can get the RSS feed for the show right here. Or, if you prefer, you can directly download the 19mb MP3 file right here.

Great podcast. I love the group show format.
Listening to to podcast there was brief snippet on Dilbert comics not being funny. At this point I agree. However I used to work in a major bank (50k+ employees), and the strip held a different appeal to me. When I worked there I would see the strips play out in my office. That made it much more relevant when I was working there. When I left there I went to a small startup (50 people) and it was slightly less funny. When I became self employed and I’m not in an office every day, it’s completely lost any appeal to me. But believe me in corporate america, Dilbert is much more true to life. More than anyone would like it to be in fact.

hey scott, you should change the thing on the site how you had it a couple weeks ago, when you click on a link and it automatically opens a new window. i always liked that and i miss it.

Another note. For a more highbrow, and in depth story on O’s “every crap has it’s fly” theory, check out The Long Tail in wired a few weeks back. http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/12.10/tail.html

I made the Dilbert comment on the show. I do agree with it not being funny depending on where/how ya look at it. I still check it everyday, but only really laugh once in a while. I am also NOT in a situation anymore like the setting of Dilbert. Now, my friend finds them incredibly funny because of his work setting. Certain comics are very situational in their settings, such as the Mary Worth one that Scott mentioned. :)

The first webcomic i ever remember seeing was “Sabrina Online”

I think the main thing about allowing everyone to make their web comics is that we get to see the good ones that would have a hell of a time making it through an editorial process.

Thats a really good point. Syndication is allot like the FCC sometimes.
