Upon seeing “The Da Vinci Code” this weekend, I can finally empathize with all the protesters I saw in front of the theater. My objection to the movie isn’t rooted in religious beliefs or even moral disagreements, but rather the disrespectful mockery of the world’s oldest and most famous story. “Star Wars” is both a literary and cinematic treasure, and Dan Brown’s recent atrocity is nothing more than blatant plagiarism of Lucas’ timeless creation.

Just like Star Wars is a blatant ripoff of The Hidden Fortress by Akira Kurosawa.

Well…more like a movie realization of Joesph Campbell’s concept of hero. Since they were friends it’s more likely he ripped-off Campbell since the rumor-mill goes that Lucas wrote the script as an excercise to test out Campbell’s theory.

Too much free time on ones hands.

Yeah… I think this guy kinda missed the whole point. Both of these films were written on the same motif, just as The Hidden Fortress was.

PodcastRant has a point, as well.

Like stated, all modern media is based off the myth of King Arthur.

The DaVinci Code was #1 bestseller…on the FICTION list. Theres no need to host debates about the truth of fiction.

you know, this article is just a joke, right?

  8. Mr. Roboto

who cares the Da Vinci Code is a rip off of an older book wich is based on the same hoak that the Priory of Sion was

  9. Mr. Roboto

““Star Wars” is both a literary and cinematic treasure” – you can’t get any more sarcastic.

On the topic of Da Vinci Code: Only reason to see it (in two years when it’s on free TV) is Audrey Tatou.

I think his other offerings show that he is obviously being sarcastic:

“Unleashing the Secrets Behind the Texas Double-Whopper”

I think he’s trying to make some parallels to Star Wars for humor’s sake, although stretching just a bit to far….a la Dan Brown?

I find it funny that so many people are up in arms about a fictional book. For Heaven’s sake, people, don’t feel so threatened just because someone has an interesting opinion on a historical event.

And this comes from an extremely religious person, so I am well aware of the religious ramifications of the story, which I have read.

And let me amend that I don’t think that anyone in this forum is offended. That was an open letter to the Christian world.
