We talk a bit more about District 9, lots of talk about Tim Burton movies, and some other odds and ends my mother would blush at. Enjoy!

Did O ever say why he didn’t get a PS3 in Connecticut?

    • Cliff

I think he said that he was out of money.

  2. Aeton

Is it me or is there a lot of background music during the podcast?

The Godfather part 2 is the only film I can think of that I would consider a great prequel. It probably doesn’t count because it is also a sequel, but I think the concept of prequel/sequel hybrids like that movie works better than pure prequels. Anyways, love the show! You guys always make me laugh.

Totally I kept thinking my wimamp was rebelling…

Good show, great to hear from you guys again. Tim Burton rox (my favs: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Pee-Wees BA and Beetleguese amongst others)

Got to be the dirtiest ELR ever … awesome.

Riddick also breaks the rule about the rule about movie based games sucking with Escape from Butcher Bay which was a straight up prequel(I haven’t played Dark Athena yet but its not tied to a movie release so it doesn’t count) which means a film can ignore all rules if you apply a Vin Diesel modifier to it.

The red ring of death appears to have a very simple fix. With a little searching you could probably find a good guide on opening up your system and doing the repair. I know all you need is 4 nuts and bolts and some nylon, spring, and ordinary metal washers along with thermal paste.

“For such a musical movie, you just gotta be in the mood.” – O

Hmmm… Helena Bonham Carter and Johnny Depp killing people and cooking them into pies? That always puts me in the mood.

    Oh wait…

I totally agree with you about motion controls. I enjoy my Wii as a once and awhile thing but most of the time I am really not in the mood.

But it always grates on my how people claim Wii is a gimmick but when Sony and Microsoft plan to do motion controls all of a sudden its no longer a gimmick. Wii is a gimmick but it is a fun gimmick but I don’t see anything to be gained from holding my hands in the air to play Burnout.

Good episode as always, made me realise I really need to check out more Tim Burton films and re-watch some of those I have seen.

A good cheap way to resurrect your xbox is to do the x-clamp mod(just google x-clamp). Ive done the mod twice successfully, once on a friends 360 and once on mine, this was over six months ago they are both still going strong.

Also my brother has one of the new jasper revision xboxs and its plain stupid how much cooler it runs compared to mine.

District 9 kind of sucked… It was a rehash of ideas from The Independence Day, Transformers like special effects… The main character looked like a major wimp. Why do aliens have to be humanoid? Cat food ppppplease… Aliens have children? Also – the ending was really dumb. What is the moral of the story? Any thought provoking plot twists… Sorry – it was a pile of steaming crap…

    • Scott Johnson

      Yer wrong, but ok. :)

    • DrOswald

Just out of curiosity, what ideas do you think it took from Independence Day? The movies seem completely different to me.
Also, what is wrong with aliens having children, or being humanoid?

  12. Asterix

I really liked the fight scenes involving alien weapons, I’ll give you that much, but the rest was dissapointing…

In my opinion Shamalayanamadamadingdong only did two good movies. “The Sixth Sense” was great, and “Unbreakable” was pretty decent. But I don’t think they were good because of M-Night, they were good thanks to Bruce Willis.

did you know that Signs was a remake? that move is a remake of an old sci-fi movie i’ve seen when i was a kid. wish i could remember the name of it. i just remember the last fight with the aliens at a lighthouse on a beach and they used the hose to kill them at the end.

The Good the Bad and the Ugly is a prequel to Fistful of Dollars and A Few Dollars More and all three are great movies

but red dragon is more a remake then a prequel. the orginal was call Manhunter (1986) in US, with Brian Cox as Hannibal (hes also play Stryker in X-men 2, and he supposed to be in The Silence of the Lambs but he have the same agent with Antony Hopkins and he *yoink* the script) and wiliam pettersen from CSI: Las Vegas.
